I wouldn't have taken any bet that would have had Chuck Weber staying as Cyclone's coach for the upcoming season. Now, it seems almost 100% assured that we'll have him as coach for the upcoming 2009-09 season.

If Chuck had better credentials as a player, then I don't think that we would be priviledged to have him here again. Or, perhaps his age and/or relative lack of head coaching experience were the roadblocks which caused his promtion to the AHL to be temporarily delayed.

It certainly wasn't his ability as a coach nor any personal characteristic. He built this organization from scratch and was able to secure not just one, but two active and productive affiliations. In addition to winning, the player development which has occurred under his guidance is magnificent. Greg Stewart, Conrad Martin, Cedric Desjardins and David Desharnais have progressed to the point where they are legitimate prospects in the Canadien's organization. I would still think that he rates extremely high on many inside hockey people's list of future coaching stars.

Nonetheless, I am extremely pleased that we will have him guiding our
team next season.

It's great to be wrong (about his promotion) every now and again

Robo. You told me just a few days ago something like this could happen. Dammit! As I said when I made the original post in this thread, I thought he was ready.

But, after further consideration, it is quite apparent that Chuck Weber is too green and needs at least one more year of seasoning in the ECHL. Plus, the Cyclones could have been just lucky to win the Cup. Perhaps they won in IN SPITE of Weber.

If he gets the call it's well deserved. We couldn't have asked for anything better from Weber. A great coach, person and ambassador of the game.

there are indeed several AHL teams looking for coaches. it would be silly for any of us to think that with chuck's resume he wouldn't be considered. however, chuck still isn't very seasoned as a head coach. i think we have him for at least one more year and maybe a second depending on what happens this season.

You know what's funny Donnie? This article was posted on July 25th, I read it days ago: http://www.amerks.com/FeatureStories.aspx?news_id=1556

A lot of us expected it could happen then. Doesn't take a braniac to figure out that an AHL team looking for a new coach would consider Weber, though I know you'd love for us to put the spotlight on you right now instead.

The link to the article you posted makes no mention of Chuck Weber.

No it doesn't, it's simply about Rochester needing a new coach. Had you actually read my post you would have known that I never said it did, but that some of us expected it then. That's okay though Donnie, sorry for trying to take away your sacred spotlight.
