Okay everyone, lets take a breath on this season. First-yes I am concerned the early
goaltending has been shakey,Yes I am concerned that the defense is taking way too many
penalties and not being there for our goaltending. Remember this is the ECHL.The only
players you get back are the ones not good enough for the AHL. Our purpose is to take
the 3rd level talent (AHL is 2nd-NHL is 1st) and turn them into 2nd level or weed them
out for Montreal or Nashville. If we are in last place by November 1st,Chuck and the gang
will be bringing in new players or making whatever changes that will be needed. Two road
games and we only have one of four points-if it was the playoffs I would be worried. How
many games did we play before we got a hat-trick last year.It took one this year.Yes
Wheeling and Dayton, you took rounds one with us.Lets see who takes round two.

the biggest thing that i'm concerned with so far is our play in the defensive end and not just from a penalty stand point. the defensive coverage is lacking to put it kindly. last season we had stellar goal tending, but the defense made them look even better. last season we were among the league leaders in the shots allowed category and so far in 2 games we have allowed close to 80 shots. i don't care who we have in net, if the guys allow our opponents to shoot 40 times per game we aren't going to win too many. factor in that the majority of those shots are from from prime scoring areas i.e. the low slot. i know this isn't last years team, and i don't expect the same kind of season but chuck's previous 2 teams were both very responsible defensively. if we can start holding teams to 10 shots or less per period it's going to be a long season.

i have no doubt that these guys will get it together; with so many new faces chemistry is certainly an issue and as the guys get used to each other they will only get better as the season progresses. oh and a few more french canadians might help too...it did last year.

It is a team with a lot of new players. You can't blame Saturday entirely on the goalie. He is getting little support and the puck handling has been terrible. All that having been said, it is only two games into the season. Chuck will get them working together soon enough. It won't be last year's team but they will improve. Nothing to panic over.

Get Clones instead of Clunkers.

Last season started with a 2-2 record. Still, as Elvis pointed out, giving up 40 shots per game will not lead to good things.

Weber will get these guys playing some semblance of systematic, defensive hockey or he will cut some players and get new ones. One thing to keep in mind is that ECHL camps open about 12 days before the season. This time frame doesn't give a team time to implement and learn a system. Given the large number of new players on the roster, it will probably take a few weeks for the coaching staff to fully acclimate players with their defensive responsibilities.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

It is only two games into the season, but there should be cause for concern. The goal tending is terrible and there is no change around the corner. Both goalies are contracted through the affiliates baring call ups there is no help in sight on that front.

I agree the goaltending looks even worse because the D is bad. Grimaldi is horrible. Perkins and MacDonald did not look that bad but it might have been a off night. The rest of the defensemen were a joke. The fact that BIB was on the blue line from the 2nd period on shows how terrible the rest of those guys are.

Granted, Sat was the first time I have seen the team play, but forward play has not impressed me. Dont get me wrong last year's group of forwards were amazing, but there are some glaring holes. Obviously this team would be a lot different will DD and JM but I think the loss of Reynolds and Dietch is even bigger. Those 2 guys were rocks on the PK and were good defensive forwards and allowed Chuck to rest other guys for the PP.

On the plus side, I was impressed with the way McLeod played. He had some solid shifts. Werner looked solid but he will be on a yo-yo with Milwaukee all year. Scyro looked solid and healthy. Latendresse, TB,, and Eghoetz played well, but other new guys will need to show something in a hurry.

This team needs a lot of help and I think it is going to be along year.

weve taken players branded by the AHL as misfits and turned them into champions.... two games will not decide whether or not this team rises or falls... in about 40-50, maybe.... not when we havent even played a home game yet

KELLY CUP CHAMPIONS- 2008, 2010
AMERICAN/EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS- 2008, 2010, 2014
DIVISION CHAMPIONS- 1996, 2008, 2009, 2013
2008 BRABHAM CUP CHAMPIONS

I have a lot of faith in Chuck... maybe he wanted a bit of a challenge this year... well I think he has it!

Our goalies are both brand new faces to the ECHL... does anyone remember how Ceddy played when he first showed up 2 years ago fresh out of juniors... it takes a bit of time to get used to this style of play. But you definitely need a defense to put in front of that goalie and currently I am unimpressed. Our return players don't look like they saw the inside of a gym all summer! Cept for Perkins... who actually looks like he has improved.

The only forward who has impressed me just yet is Werner and if Beauregard keeps playing like he is, he wont be here for very long... take out his goals from these last two games and were hurting.

But like I said, I trust Chuck! He will have them playing like a team in no time!

Defense needs to start working better.. need to clear the puck better.. we will be facing better teams than Dayton on PP. Stupid penalties at the wrong time.. It's okay.. only two games so far.. let's not judge to quickly

Definitely weak on the PK. On the Dayton game, three of four goals given up during regulation were on the penalty kill. We seem to be playing tentatively and need to be more aggressive. I'm sure Chuck will be working on that or will upgrade like he did last year.

Long year= Having to score 5 or more goals each game because we will give up 4-5 goals a game.

I do rember that Ced and Dov were new faces but they wre faces that had alot of success prior to coming to th Clones. As soon as I heard that Loic was going to be placd in Cincy, my first reaction was I hope the Nashville kid is good.

I don't believe that 0-1-1 is time to PANIC but I do think that there needs to be a little less space between the pipes. (AKA goalie play needs to tighten up)

Having a more aggressive fore check would also help in slowing down the action in front of the net as well... you can't get out shot by 20 shots and expect to win. They need to be able to create some Neutral Zone turnovers and convert those into GOALS.

I think that everyone is failing to remember what happened 2 season ago... 37-29-4-2 Which got them into the playoffs. Last season, 3 teams made the American Conference playoffs with LOSING RECORDS. (Dayton, Augusta, and Mississippi)

I have faith in Coach Weber, but I do NOT expect a 12 loss team this year. I think that it is very realistic to see this team in 3rd or 4th place in the division at the end of the regular season which will get them comfortably in the playoffs.

With the new goalies, you'll notice a maturation process- the game is a little different in the ECHL than it is in College or even at the junior levels. I think that eventually the game will slow down for them a little bit.

115 points it NOT going to happen again this year but there is still nothing to worry about :) I don't see Las Vegas getting 106 points this season either.

As a fan, you have the right to feel like you want about the team but, for those of you that are new to the game...or were new to the game because of last season's MAGICAL RUN...minor league hockey teams go through ups and downs... 0-1-1 is NOT FREAK OUT TIME, even with giving up lots of goals. The defense will tighten and the goalies will get better...don't freak out just yet. ;)
