This team is going to be just fine.

We have tremendous fire power offensively and I wouldn't at all be surprised to see it augmented by the return of Aubin.

The shots on goal against numbers are unacceptably high. We cannot continue to get outshot like we have and expect to win. However, I think that the defense will improve as time progresses.

Makway, Grover, St. Denis, and Swatske look capable to me. McElroy may or may not stay, but obviously he's good. MacDonald may return at some point as well. Given some time together, I can see this molding into a fairly solid defensive team.

Backchecking will have to improve. But, that's an easy fix. Goaltending is showing a degree of competence most of the time. The two kids should continue to improve as they log more minutes.

I'm sure Weber will look to fortify the defense nonetheless. With the goal generating ability of this team, we may not need to be air tight on defense to be a very competitive team.

.500 after 8 games of which only 3 were at home. And after giving up 21 goals in the first 3 games. And having very ineffective penalty killing. I see no reason why this team can't be highly competitive.

But, with a coach like Weber, we all knew that the terrible first few games would not be indicative of the entire season.

Enjoy being close to us while you can, Dayton fans. We'll probably be losing sight of you in our rear view minror come the first of the year.

Remember last time you made predictions about us...

DISCLAIMER: The above two comments are based on opinion only, in no fashion was this a prediction that we are going to win. Take them as you will and don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Excellent... We need to keep doing what we did last night, except maybe the 2nd period stuff. But all in all, it was a great game to watch. And Makway is my new hero.

I loved the physical play, the quickness and effort. They were skating their little behinds off last night. Reminds me of last season and reassures me.

I'm also glad to have a night off for my voice to recover so I can scream some more on Friday. Woot!

What you do today can change the course of your life far into the future. Today is critical. Today really counts.

It's easy to see why shots on goal allowed is so high.Last night
at least 10 of Readings shots came on rebounds from the goalie.
Two years ago Cedrick tried to catch and stop every shot bringing
play to a halt. This is what young goalies need to do.Using only
the blocker causes rebounds right in front.PLEASE-catch the puck
and stop the rush at you and let the team regroup on the faceoff.

There were a lot of rebounds last night from goal. I was a little concerned watching the second period unravel but the guys came back great in the third and never let up. Hopefully they are starting to develop more of a killer instinct when they're up and not just sit back a play a "prevent defense". Still giving up way to many shots on goal though. All in all a great effort and getting better all the time.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

Glad to see McElroy out there giving the team a little chip on their shoulders. They were a little more physical team than I've seen them.

Huge PP goal by TJ in the 2nd period. It was around 30 seconds after Reading had the shorthanded and powerplay goal within 4 minutes of each other. It helped shut down the Reading momentum.

How about Makway giving Cooper a bloody knuckle sandwich? haha.

I agree about the D-men, hrc666. A little more time together and we should start seeing the shot count going down.

Yeah yeah yeah I promise to not move to center ice during the 2nd period...I'll stay in my seat in the end zone for the whole game on Friday ;-) but so help me God if jewski gives up goals WHILE i stay in my seat, it's no longer my fault (like I got blamed last night!) ;-) LOL!!!

And amen on the day of rest for the voice! Don't think I'd have much cheering left in me if we had a game tonight!

There's far too many new players and far too short of a preseason to judge the team on the first few games. I agree. Coach Weber will show his true colors with this team. Should they continue to improve and march up the ladder of the division, he'll solidify his position as an exceptional coach. They seem to be gelling together pretty well and the games have been improving. However, that being said, we have to do something about the 40-60 shots we're giving up on a nightly basis :(

My predictions last season were solid, to say the least.

I've Predicted Dayton at 2.5 goals per game. They have 16 in 6. That is 2.67 per game-including SO and OT which really should be considered in a second category.

The Bummers will have a very difficult time scoring goals with their current roster. Given that they aren't affiliated and probably aren't disposed to bringing in higher-priced veterans from Europe later in the season, they will necessarily have to win almost every close, low-scoring game to be effective. That's a very tall order. Teams which can't score in the 3.5 goals per game range generally don't compete at the top of the league.

Just an explanation. Not a flame.
