I missed Friday due to work and from the webcast it sounded like a hell of a game. I was ready for another great game Saturday....
What happened ? Our guys looked like they had no energy at all. Passes, which haven't been crisp all year looked especially flat. Turnovers abounded...The offense looked a half step out of sync. Wheeling controlled the game from top to bottom IMO.
I am impressed with Houle in goal. The first goal he was out of position on a wrap around and the second he was just flat out beat up high. In between however he looked good, in position and in control of his rebounds. The defense also swept a few loose pucks out of the crease.
My kids loved the mascots in between periods... a good cheap promotion! BTW if there is a postgame skate/pizza party for the kids you need to ADVERTISE IT. I am on the Cyclones website at least twice a day and Wildman's announcement at the game was the first I heard of it. |

I would have to agree for the most part. I never really saw any kind of hustle until the third period, and they did lack in the passing game.
We were extremely lucky to get out of the second period not down 5-0, if not due to two shots that rang off the post and one clean miss on virtually an open net with Houle sprawling to make a block. But then the Cyclones rang one off the crossbar and one off the post themselves so the argument can be made both ways.
I am also encouraged by Houle. It's early, but he could be an upgrade to a position that could use a boost. |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

It wasn't out best effort, but we didn't play horrible, which is a major upgrade from previous in the year. We were on pretty much a permanent penalty kill the whole second period, and got called for penalties twice in the third right after we had went on the power play. I'm not saying it's all Suhy's fault, I didn't really catch them, but we have definitely taken a lot of stupid penalties this year. Darling was outstanding. Robbed a couple of nice shots in the first and was a flat out wall when we poured on the pressure in the third. Overall we split a series against the best team in the division, tonight's which could have been easily winnable had it not been for Darling's performance. Not a bad weekend by any means.
I was also glad to see the crowd, 2644. That's not excellent, but I thought it would really be down with not much of a promotion (and zero advertising to go along with it) and the UC-Pittsburgh game. |

| Yes very lucky that Wheeling didn't put a 5 spot up on us, as much as I hate to say this the Nailers are a very good hockey team, we still spent most of the game chasing them around in our own end, I'm def seeing improvement in this team but, def needs more improvement and, I trust Chuck will make that happen!! |

Great defense and goaltending at the end by Wheeling, not to mention the rest of the game. All of those shots in the 3rd period scramble and not one could find the net... so close!

Speaking of Saturday night, check out the score and penalties of this game. |
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

| I would also like to point out the poor officiating in the mascot game. The Hoxworth Blood Drop is known to play dirty and they should realize that at this point. His goal was kicked in WHILE in the crease. NO GOAL! |

I don't know what was more pathetic-our players trying to catch up to the Wheeling skaters or the Xavier "Blue Blob" trying to throw a t-shirt over the glass!Which team will show up Tuesday-the one on Friday playing togethet or the tired looking team on Saturday. Does anyone know about Frederick St. Dennis? I liked what I saw of his hustle on the ice when he came down. |

| last monday at the coach's show chuck said he got dinged up about halfway through the elmira game. he didn't elaborate as to what the injury was, only that it was a big loss and how long frederick was going to be out wouldn't be known until they had the results of the MRI. |
