i was looking at the gaa and sv% and the guys are pretty equal. i went through gamesheets so see if there was a rhyme or reason as to why dayton was starting one over the other. obviously when dayton had shantz he was the go to guy. dayton doesn't seem to be alternating like have done in the past. they don't seem to be going with the play til you lose either. the only thing i can figure is that of the 3 games between the 2 teams thus far 2 of them have gone to overtime or a shootout and drew has the 1 OT loss. that or they are drawing straws before the game.
since the 2 guys have stats that are so similar you'd have to think you'd do with guy that's putting up W's. can't say that i'm complaining about daytons decision though... |

On last night's game,I like the line of Latendresse-Ehgoetz-Beauregard and the physical line of Rank-Cohen-Gordon, but don't keep putting Syroczynski-Ehgoetz-Beauregard out there because it's total chaos.Still have a problem with power-play setting up shop on one side of the rink resulting in the goalie needing to cover only 1/2 of the net. |

and how about attacking the point on our penalty kill... challenge the d-man shooter everynow and then. Not sure I like the tight box formation that blindfolds the goaltender.

Has Jericho calmed down? I was afraid he was going to have a stroke!
It really was a good game. Very physical--Players finishing checks without throwing punches. |

| I really don't think Plante looked all that bad. Two of the goals he gave up were defensive breakdowns which allowed break aways and one was an empty net. The other one was a soft goal he probably should have had. A lot of good checking on both teams. With 41 shots on goal given up, he made some very nice saves. |

Eghoetz on the power play is not a good personnel decision by Weber, imo. He's not a great playmaker and isn't what one would describe as a sniper either.
He's a great penalty killer and a very solid defensive player who contributes his fair share offensively, but I don't see what he is bringing to the power play.
It's great having a goalie on whom the team can rely. The defense seems to have found itself and getting the occasional big save along with few soft goals puts the Cyclones back into contention. We've got a lot of points to make up on a lot of teams, but the season is still in the first quarter.

well Plante is affiliated with Florida Panthers so when Dayton lost Brown, Florida sent Shantz to Dayton (Costa has connections with Florida Panthers) and then Rochester recalled Shantz so they were going to send one down and Dayton got Plante (who last year had a record of 6-16 and a 0-5 start in the AHL). So Plante is starting because he is affiliated with the Florida Panthers and they want him to get more experience in the ECHL. |

I turned around after the 2nd or 3rd Cyclones goal, and he was standing there face bright red, trading insults with one of our less-than-cordial fans. It did not appear to be all in good fun. |

| Plante played well, no reason to blame the loss on him. The first two goals were basically breakaways. We couldn't capitalize on a single power play, the Van Guilder/Fitzpatrick PP line, while I like both guys, looked especially poor. It was frustrating to watch. Houle played a great game as well. |
