I was talking about this the other day and
I wanted to see if anyone knew why? I thought the
Public Landing was just that "PUBLIC". So why is it
that almost every weekend is it blocked off for the show boat?
Do they have a agreement with the city that they get so many
parking spaces days of shows? Will you really get towed if
you park in the marked of spaces? And last, if noone Know any
of the following do they Know who to contact to find out? B/C i will call them.

Yeah, everytime I have driven past it they always say full and showboat parking only...not much of a "Public Landing" anymore.

Sawyer Point is still free, as is most street parking, albeit a little farther walk. I really hope the city is losing its a#@ on its $10 parking (or at least noticed a steep drop off). I told myself when it gets really cold i'll park in the garage so the kids don't have to walk. Either i'm cheap or it hasn't gotten that cold yet. And I can always drop the kids with mom and i'll walk.

From the CRC website:

"Public Landing

The Public landing is open 6:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. daily.

Parking: free with 4 hour limit

No parking in marked fire lanes or other undesignated areas. The Public Landing is subject to closure at any time for any reason deemed necessary by the City of Cincinnati or the Cincinnati Recreation Commission under authority of Cincinnati Municipal Code 739-5 and Cincinnati Municipal Code 411-19."

Also the last Showboat performances of the season are December 12 & 13. Then they close until the beginning of May. We won't have to worry about them taking up the landing after this weekend.

But do try to pay attention to the 4 hour free limit. My sister said there was a cop down there writing tickets for cars that had been down there more than four hours a few weekends ago. It was for the Rockettes shows I believe where some of the Arena staff were getting ticketed because they were there all day.

What you do today can change the course of your life far into the future. Today is critical. Today really counts.

Is anyone baffled at the fact at the $10 we pay for the garage, which pays for the 3 workers there who are there just to point us to the left (Definitely can't go right). And then after the game you see no one and pull out of the garage only to see a sign $4.00 to park. WTF. That just blows my mind.

We have parked across from Game Day all season. It is still only $5, so not only half of what the garage is, but even a dollar less than what it was in there last season. At the beginning of the year they bumped it up to $7 as well (or so I've heard), every time we've went, including this week, it has remained five bucks.

I have parked many times in the unmarked spaces down towards the end of the landing on the west end. Other people do as well and I've never been towed, so I dont know if they just dont care or if I'm lucky. It would be tough to get a tow truck in there when it's full though.
