Only thing that I heard about J Johnson is that the Cyclones Pick him up off waviers from Utah. And Syro said if he plays the way he did last night he will not be here long. I liked him. he looks likes someone we could use right now He throws the body and the Knuckles. We need someone to step up and get physical.
Syro is now our player evaluation expert-maybe he should watch some video of his own play! If he can play under control,he may be the muscle we need to keep opposing teams honest.I still say put him on the power play parked right in front of their goalie and lets see teams move him.For being brand new-I think he did a good job on his shifts and his fighting was a pretty impressive way to introduce yourself to your new team's fans.
Agreed with bags. I like Syro, and I'm also not someone who thinks every team needs an enforcer, but there was nothing wrong with him getting in a scrum with Bernier last night. Maybe he didn't see it while sitting out injured but it was our biggest crowd in a while and we probably looked as pathetic as we have all season giving up those 4 goals in the first period. Johnson gave them something to get excited about. I'm sure Bernier was looking for a scrap too, especially comfortable with his team in the lead. Hell, it's not like our forwards are neccesarily lighting the lamp every night. I'm assuming Syro was referring to Weber's coaching style ... looking at this guy's stats from Utag (lots of PIM, not many points), he had to know what kind of player he was signing. And I'm also guessing Weber didn't mind him dropping the gloves too much considering he did it again in the second. It was kind of refreshing to see a Clone be confident in a fight and put up a good one (unlike Avery Wilson). Now, it'll be different if he starts to become someone who gets little ice time and when he does is always in the penalty box for stupidly trying to instigate a fight (not unlike Jimmy Bonneau).
I think I should have stated that different Syro wasn't saying that he would be cut but maybe called up. That's what he meant by not being here long. The fact that he was all over the ice and playing hard and not scared to drop the gloves. That's it.
