Cyclones Lose Thomas Beauregard To American Hockey League

Date: 12/15/2008

Cincinnati Has Its Twelfth Player Advance To Hockey’s AAA Level

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones have had forward Thomas Beauregard recalled from the club by the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL), the team has learned this afternoon The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

Beauregard, 22, appeared in 25 games with the Cyclones this season and has 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points. His 15 goals are the third-most in the ECHL this season. Thomas has played in 84 professional games, all with the Cyclones, and has recorded 46 goals and 47 assists for 93 points. This will be his first trip to the American Hockey League in his career.

Beauregard is the twelfth player to have played with the Cyclones and been recalled, assigned or have spent time in the AHL this season. Last year, a total of 22 players were recalled, loaned or spent time in the AHL—as Cincinnati advanced to the Kelly Cup championship.

Cyclones players have appeared in 83 AHL games this season, racking up seven goals and seven assists for 14 points and 31 penalty minutes. Players who appeared on the Kelly Cup championship roster of a year ago have played in 135 games in 2008-09, netting 22 goals and 39 assists for 61 points and 127 penalty minutes—from a goaltending standpoint, the netminders from that team are 4-5 with a 2.99 goals against average and a .899 save percentage.

Cincinnati (11-11-4) is fourth in the North Division of the American Conference. The Cyclones are at Dayton on Friday night (Dee. 19) for a 7:30pm tilt (carried on MAX-FM 97.7 and 99.5). Saturday (Dec. 20), the Bummers come to U.S. Bank Arena for a 7:30pm clash on Beat Dayton Night—with fans receiving a complimentary t-shirt from Fox Sports Ohio.

Tickets for all Cyclones games can be purchased at the U.S. Bank Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including select Kroger stores, charge by phone at 513-562-4949 or online at ticketmaster.com. The most up-to-date information and broadcast of the games can be found on our website www.cycloneshockey.com.

I wonder if Hamilton can find any other ways of screwing us this year.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

Glad to see Beauregard is getting at least a taste of the AHL. Hard to say how he'll fare up there, but his numbers over the past two seasons warrant him a look.

Montreal has been besieged by injuries and Hamilton has had a few, so Hamilton was bound to recall a number of players.

Our offense-which has been severely challenged of late-is going to be anemic more than likely. The defense had best be air tight or the Clones are going to be SOL.

Who's got the midnite to 8am shift on Weber's suicide watch?

For the first time this season our defense seems to be relatively in place and the offense is a question mark. There is no doubt Beauregard was due for the call up but the timing sucks for us. Unfortunately due to the timing and our obligations with our affiliates we probably won't get anyone new and if we do they most likely will be someone else's cast off.

I look for a change in the offense; more point shots with traffic in front. Our speed guys (Kilpatrick, Cohen, Van Guilder) aren't going to be able to carry us. Hopefully Grover, McElroy, Gordon and McLeod will launch some pucks with Rank, Johnson and McKenzie in front to pick up scraps... Maybe Toomey and Ehgoetz feeding pucks to the speed guys.

Instead of the first/last goal we should wager how long it takes Johnson to have a go with Daugherty. (I guess third minute, 1st period)!

Luckily Dayton is very beatable. We've had a full week of rest and we don't have to play three in three nights against the best team in the division. Lets hope for a good week of practice and no call ups, at least till next week!

Dougherty vs. Johnson will be the main event for me. Dougherty is the best fighter whom I have seen in the ECHL since Riley Cote (now of the Philadelphia Flyers) played for Dayton several years ago.

I'll take Dougherty in the fights and a split in the Weekend series would be qualify as a success given our depleted roster.

Dougherty was hurt last week I believe and I don't know if he is going to be playing against us this week. I would love to see Dougherty and Johnson fight though.
