And let's say out of that 250, about 180 of them would probably, after seeing their first hockey game, come back to see a second game and bring one or more people with them which would take that initial 250 to more than 300. Yeah, you're right hrc666, I am just one person that can't make any impact whatsoever.

See- this is why I get pissed off...

Every person that brings someone closer to the game of hockey is doing something to help the game and the team. Did anyone realize that the PBA (BOWLING) has a larger TV Audience than the NHL does?

Every time that this issue of Ducks/Clones comes up it's the same old crap. Don't let one a-hole who tells you to go away effect what many of us feel is a good time. I enjoy going to Cyclones games because I enjoy watch hockey at MULTIPLE LEVELS.

Every time that someone brings even ONE PERSON to a game with them it helps... PLEASE DONNIE- put together a group if you can- tell the idiots that give you crap to shut up and look around them... I'm tired of going to games where there are only 1000 people there. This team should be doing well, at least on the weekends.

If UC and XU aren't having a home game, and there is NO OTHER sporting event going on, there is no reason that 5,000 or so $10 tickets shouldn't be sold. (with maybe the economy as a reason why not)

Talk about how bad the economy is and that people don't have the money to spend... I use the expendable income that I have (which isn't much) to go games because I love the game. Unless advertising on somewhere OTHER than JACKETS games, the average NON HOCKEY FAN (or someone new to the game) doesn't know that the team is playing on any given night especially during the week.

Advertising costs money, but USBA doesn't seem to have problems advertising the other things that they have coming to town. I.E. AC/DC and WWE or whatever it is that is coming. Thanks to those events, I believe, we still have a team here.

TELL A BUDDY BRING A FRIEND...the only advertising this team has right now is word of mouth. This team can be successful and minor league hockey can survive in this city of people work together to make it work!

I would assume that you would have worked your group organizational wizardry when you were actually employed by a hockey team. I would also assume that the team would actually still exist in Cincinnati and not Rockford, IL. Quack. Quack. Or that a certain other team would have actually hit the ice. Toot. Toot. All Unboard!!

Life is full of assumptions and I will once again assume that if you were a vital piece of the equation for hockey success in Cincinnati then either Parsons or Harris would have hired you in some sort of capacity.

I wouldn't suggest waiting by the phone for the call will never come. At least I wouldn't assume so

Don, what must it be like to be the King of hockeytopia? (sarcasm). Seriously if you what to go to a Cyclones game then go....if you don't then stay Your butt at home, watch centerice and NHL, and Miami...blah blah blah. I've personally spoke with you, sent a couple of PMs and you seem to be a reasonable person, for the life of me I cannot understand why a few including yourself who claim to have moved on and not interested in the team or league, will not go to another game because some one YELLED at them and plead innocent for not perpetuating a "war" or at least a hockey skirmish continue to post about a team that You and some of your minions claim not to care about? lastly it's nice that you have 250 or so friends that would jump of a cliff for you...I mean go to a hockey game, the choice is yours...i'm not going to beg you

How old are you?

You know there is this thing called "ignore"... sounds like to me you are either using it as a excuse not to come to games or you really are just a wuss.

This whole time I thought the actual arena asked you not to come back. Who gives a crap if a fan tells you that.

I did. See 1990-91 and 1991-92 Cyclones, when I was involved in group sales and merchandising on a daily basis along with other roles. I averaged more than 1,000 a game in groups over the course of the then 32-game home schedule. I would assume that you were not aware of that based on your response. Averaged more than 450 a game in groups in 1981-82 with the Tigers, a team that averaged 1,200 a game. I would assume that you were not aware of that, either.

I would also assume that you would know season and group ticket sales was not an area I was involved in with the Ducks. I did offer some suggestions to the VP of Sales and Pete Robinson on ways to increase business in both areas. I would assume you've heard the saying you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink. They didn't want to operate the group sales department the way the original Cyclones did when they had their most success and we're No. 1 in all of minor pro hockey in group sales because it wasn't how Jon Spoelstra said to do it in his book entitled, "How to sell the last seat in the house."

With the RailRaiders, I was able to secure deposits for 771 full-season equivilents for a team that was nothing more than a name and logo. I bet Mr. Parsons would take those numbers.

As for waiting for a call, those came in April and May of 2006 at the recommendation of ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. Mr. Harris asked what it would take to get me involved. I never gave him an answer other than to tell him I wanted to explore all of my options. I had been-there, done-that, got the t-shirt with hockey teams in Cincinnati and wasn't interested in a position with the Cyclones. I don't know what direction he would have gone had I thrown a figure at him or expressed more interest, but Mr. McKenna thought we should meet so we did.

BTW ... Mr. Harris' office in Detroit is really nice!

Scuba and Randy, it was more than just one fan's comment over the years. Every game I went to last season there was always some Cyclones fan that felt compelled to ask me how many fans the Gardens had that night and laugh, or ask me what place the Ducks were in, and things of that nature. All I wanted to do was just watch a hockey game, like everybody else. But Cyclones fans, for whatever reason, always wanted to turn the game experience into something personal.

I want the Cyclones and hockey to succeed in Cincinnati. It can succeed. But some of the fans have to stop doing the things they do that drive prospective fans away from the arena and/or from wanting to give the team a chance. I'm not the only one that won't go to USBA because of issues they've had with Cyclones fans.

Did you do something to piss everyone off or something? How do these fans know who you are and why do you think they'd bother you so much?

"Life is too short to waste precious time arguing about minor league hockey."

And yet..........ALL of of you are perpetuating this OLD OLD OLD argument!!!
We are ALL intitled to our opinions! We are ALL intitled to let them be known!

BUT THE ATTITUDE OF:
'HOLIER THAN THOU';
'KNOW MORE THAN YOU';
'BETTER THAN YOU';
'HAVE MORE CONNECTIONS THAT YOU';

HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!!!

Many of us have supported hockey in Cincinnati for a long time (I personally go back to my first games with the SWORDS) others grew up on the Cyclones and others only a few years. Our experiences are our own. It is how we share our experiences that bring new fans to the games. This constant derogatory/negative/petty bickering and 'one-up-man-ship' does nothing but damage!! Damage to the team and to the players as well!

PUT AN END TO ALL OF THIS............ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

AMEN!!! I couldn't have said it better myself! Kudos, Bannerlady.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

ZINGER!!!!!

Because I was involved with the Cyclones when they first came to town. I helped create the Fan Club in 1991 and represented the front office at all of their meetings and events. I was always accessible to the fans, and the one the fans came to when they wanted a straight answer. After six years with the Cyclones I moved on and then came back to town to work for the Ducks and spent eight seasons with them. There, too, I was always accessible to the fans. That's how I know so many of the fans.

Why do they try and bother me? Well, many of the Cyclones fans felt I was a traitor for going to the Ducks and said so on this here board. I knew a lot of the animosity towards me was the result of being involved with the competition, and I understood and accepted that. But there was also a degree of animosity directed towards me over things I had no involvement in whatsoever, and that's the unfortunate thing. A lot of great relationships I had built with Cyclones fans were ruined over false accusations.

The Cyclones have many great and wonderful fans -- the kind of fans every team would want. Unfortunately, they're overshadowed by the handful of idiots.

Hope that answers your questions, Randy.

Donnie Hockey let me know when you get this group of 250 or more then you can talk. That is a lot of people and if your a true fan you would try to do it to get more fans there to see our team.

Since doing things on my own to try and get more fans there to see your team ranks at the bottom of my priority list, you might want to grab yourself a Snickers bar. It's going to be awhile.

Now, if someone wants to step out from hiding behind a screen name and contact me direct, I'd be happy to share some ideas with them they could pass along to the Cyclones and/or perhaps do themselves that would help.

I think that's a fair enough offer.

Don is a hockey fan, but travels to see games around the country. The Cyclones are one team of many and to him, and having a team in Cincinnati is really quite inconsequential. He doesn't need a team here to enjoy a sport he's followed for most of his life. It is you guys, the fans, that have the vested interest and should really be the ones out there trying to get friends and family to adopt the sport as their own.
