Certainly not the worst loss I've seen this year. I felt like the effort was there, just no cigar ... and that no cigar came in the form of poor quality of SOG. The first WHL goal disgusted me to watch our PK unit just cloud up the front of the net and let the Wheeling player skate right to the center, set up the shot, and bury it (and I'm willing to bet Gajewski couldn't even see it). All of the delay of game calls were odd, what were there, four tonight?

off to JJ B/C he could have
messed that guy up tonite but he held
up on that last punch that if he threw
it he would have knocked that guy into next

I dont get fighting for a crowd of 1,000 or less. Why risk busting your hand up when nobodys going to see it anyway. Your in the minors anyway, learn how to play and take your lumps but save the fighting for the bigger stage. Fighting in AA hockey should be an automatic ejection and next game suspension. You are here to "learn/hone" your fundamentals to make it to the next level and above.

Ive been a Cyclone's fan since Ron Fuller co owned the team at the Gardens. Im not a Cyclonecomelately fan at all. It just kills me seeing how the former regime at the Gardens ran the team compared to now. Id love to see the guys get on the Sunday night sports shows and a few dollars spent on advertising. Running commercials during BJ games is preaching to the choir. New eyeballs thats not watching a C-Bus game has to see it. The owner/GM of WBQC has stated that hed show the games on a 1 day delay if the team was interested in airing the games. Remember when the Garden Clones was on Time Warner on a nightly delay ??? Im afraid with just the regulars attending the game it wont be enough to keep our Clones.

Obvious troll. Back to the game......

I thought it was a pretty good effort overall. The delay of game penalty on eghoetz was called a deflection at first and then Suhy called it a delay. Interesting how Hamilton had the same thing happen to them on Sunday. This penalty led to goal 1 for WHL.

The penalty on Sproat was very questionable. He was going for the puck when his stick became entangled in the WHL player's skates. That gave them a 5 on 3 and goal #2.

Kilpatrick and Van Guilder seem to mesh very well together. Gordon is getting a bit more aggressive with his shooting. Sproat brings a great deal of speed and some apparent skills to the table as well.

Johnson could have annihilated the WHL player. I thought one more punch was in order, but that's just me I wish Weber would get over having Johnson on the first unit of the pp. MacKenzie is here to develop and has size and much more skill. Johnson also turned the puck over which gave WHL their empty netter. I don't blame him. Once again, Weber has fallen in love with the idea of Johnson in front of the net despite the fact that it yielded few dividends.

Hopefully a few days of practice together will allow the new players a chance to gain familiarity with Weber's systems and we'll be ready for a surprisingly resurgent Trenton squad.

hrc...the only issue with ian on the top pp unit is that he really doesn't play big. he's tall but built like starling. if you watch him he tends to get pushed around a bit. he is more skilled than johnson in the "hands" department, but with as successful as killer and van have been with JJ on their line 5 on 5 it's kind of hard to split that up. ironically though it seems that is killer and van are placed with any physical forward they do well...the second goal tonite was a result of paul lynch working hard in the corner. i think once ian learns to play his size he'll be a force, it just seems that he's still "growing into his body" so to speak. i think it was very briefly last season chuck tried using chad in front of the net on the PP and he got pushed around...chad was great at using his size as a d-man but not as a forward. i think ian will get it but i don't think he's the answer on the PP. the bottom line is, if shot don't get through to the front of the net it doesn't matter who is standing there...

and as far as JJ's fight goes...apparently last weds in wheeling the nailers were told not to fight JJ so they went after lynch and lynch dropped the guy with one punch...tonite the decide to have a go with JJ and it didn't work out for them either haha

Although we lost last night, that was a solid effort from a rag-tag
group of hockey players. If by some miracle they all are still here
three games from now,we might start seeing some respectable hockey.
If they play the same way against Trenton,we have a good shot at two
wins. That being said,do I think Kyle can give two more great efforts-
the answer is NO.This is not a slam against Kyle but more the need of
another goalie to provide some much needed rest.Bad call on Sproal
putting us two men down.We had brand new ice and the players were
skating around the net and he just wiped out.We sit right on the line
and no way was that a trip.Bit bummed out on two things-one is two men
in front of the goal on the PP allowing Wheeling to actually have a
4 on 3 advantage on our shooters and no fake action on the breakaway
shot attempt for us.Looking forward to this weekend now that we don't
have a team full of midgets out there.

Where I was sitting the ice looked a tad lumpy in the corners. A lot of players were wiping out down there. Hopefully the ice will have a chance to harden, and smooth out with a few zamboni runs. Can't wait till Saturday.
