It happens on occasion to every team. Hopefully it will work in our favor. Florida should now be over confident and the Cyclones will have something to prove. At least that is what I hope to see on Friday.
Florida is leading the league in points and our team was down to 13 players (plus goalies) prior to signing a guy who played in a league that is semi-pro. It's going to be rough going for a while with our decimated roster. We've lost Eghoetz, Kilpatrick, McElroy and St. Denis-the cornerstones of our offense. Only Van Guilder remains. I'd be quite surprised to see us win either of the last two games, but stranger things have happened.
The bright side is that we're not giving points to a divisional foe. We're still in first place and who would have thought that this team would have been in first place 2/3rds into the season after the first month of play? But, Weber has his work cut out for him. Help will not be forthcoming from Montreal/Hamilton. We can only selfishly hope that a few of the guys who have been called up are returned. Eghoetz will return, but that's over a month away. I hope that the coach can pull a rabbit out of his hat in the trade/aquisition game. We'll need that in order to be competitive for the remainder of the season.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) those of us at Sluggers didn't get to see the 2nd or 3rd periods. There was a major power outage at Sports Plus & we were home by 9:30.
Hope those of you in Florida have a good week. Cheer loud for us!
With the 5-0 loss-does that mean we have to PAY an extra $5 for a City BQ sandwich ! All you can say is what's left of the team is was due.Now more than ever we CAN'T AFFORD major penalties where someone is unavailable for 10 minutes.JJ needs to be on the ice and allowing someone to catch a breath and that goes for all the other players too.If someone wants to fight-SKATE AWAY !!! If we were Reading and going nowhere,we can fight and take some extra penalties. We are too close in a division that will be hard enough just staying in the top 4 spots.
