I'm still in a bit of a state of shock.
The Cyclones came back from a 3-1 deficit with a line up that included: The always awful Sawatske, the invisible MacLeod, quasi-beer leaguers Clark, Van Vliet, and midget Ferrazoli and several other very marginal players.
This team minus a few of the beer leaguers managed to take 2 points in Florida from the league's leading team as well.
If we take Dayton again tommorrow with this roster, then the Bombers may as well hang it up. They will have proved that they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. |

| It was definitely a nice win and nice to see another crowd around 5000. You really can't say the Southern trip was bad coming out .500 considering the line-up ... now just need to finish off Dayton for good this weekend and try to maintain first place. Nie was outstanding tonight and the last two Florida games. He has truly kept us in these games where as earlier in the year, those 5 goals would not have been enough to get the win. |

The refs were horrible tonight as well.
I really think our team could have done a lot better in the first period. Seems like they woke up at second period. |

Oh, that outstanding stickless scramble around the net during the Dayton power play! Wow! |

I am consistantly surprised by this team who on most nights finds a way to win with a very "fluid" lineup. The first period goals were simply defensive breakdowns leaving Nie hung out to dry. When new guys and veterans are playing in unfamiliar roles its going to happen.
Van Guilder has been good all season but was outstanding last night; McKenzie has been invisible on the scoresheet for most of the season and he stepped up big time. Nie was great except for a few minutes in the first which would have required Roy like skills to stop. His third period heroics more than made up for the defensive lapses.
Ferazolli (Welcome Back, way to contribute in your first game!)fit right in on the PP and during regular shifts.
All that being said Dayton looks like a team on the downward slide. They hit and battle fairly well in the corners but took stupid penalties and lacked any real fire except for the final few minutes. (I did think Dougherty got the better of JJ in the fight but I'll wait to see round 2 tonight) Put a fork in them; the're done.
The officiating was just okay. All I want is for it to be consistant. Goalie interference is the same in the first, second and the third periods last I checked. If you are going to swallow your whistle, fine. Just don't poop it out and start blowing it again!

| I want this team in the finals more this year than last year because they have worked with so many lineups and players it doesnt matter who thier playing with everybody has the same goal and it makes playing with different players almost daily and that is to win. This team is a great example of puting aside playing with the same guys every night and trying to find a rythem to just flat out playing and winning, we might not have the names this year but we got players who are playing thier tales off and having fun winning! Lets win tonight and make a solid push for back to back North Division Champs |

I say Nie had a great game as well, although that was BS that he could get run into and not even get a call where we have a guy playing the puck and the goalie comes out and runs into him, we get a goal thats called off and then we get a goalie interference penalty for it?
Yea as said reffing was horrible, but great game all together after the first period was done. I feel as if we got into their heads in the 2nd and caused a breakdown in their D. |

Like is have said in the past "If anyone on her thinks they can do better Go see Coach Weber and ask for a try out and lets see what you got" The most important thing is that they won the damn game. No matter where these guys came from no matter their size they go out and give it their all. I don't see any 21 year old(Clark) or anyone for that matter on here wanting to drop the gloves with Dougherty. I know it wasn't a "Fight Fight" but he was willing to go and from what he told me last night he is willing to work is a$$ of to make a spot on this team even if it means you have to fight one of the toughest guys in the league. He also said he works hard in practice to show he wants his job. So before we judge ppl on their play or size if you can't do better STFU. |

all things considered the boys played great. dayton's 1st 2 goals were PP goal and it wasn't so much the PK breaking down as it was dayton making 2 really nice passes to the open man on the back side of the play. in a perfect world someone deflects that pass, but the worlds not perfect so that's going to happen now and then. the 3rd was off a turnover in the neutral zone; definitely a bit of a break down.
right now i like the team that's on the ice. i don't see any egos. i see a bunch of guys that aren't taking being here for granted. sometimes when college kids, or guys leagues like the ephl, or sphl come in they try to hard to "prove" they belong at this level and it leads to bad turnovers and missed opportunities. i'm not seeing that; i see a bunch of guys playing within themselves and playing smart, team hockey. individually they may not be the best guys out there but when they play as a team they are proving to be as good as anyone in the division. should we be lucky enough to get killer back to add an extra punch and when egho gets healthy we'll get even harder to match up against.... |

Mello out, clown. Since when is it unfair to judge pro athletes "on their play and size"?
Ask Weber if he would rather have Wyman or Clark, St. Denis or Van Vliet, Kilpatrick or Ferrazoli.
2008-09. The Flyers will be celebrating their 33rd straight season without a Stanley Cup. Just keeping you informed.

the midget ferrazoli...i bet chuck would hate to have the midget desharnais back.....
now i'm not saying that 'zoli is this seasons DD, but i am saying that before you judge a player wait and see what he does. everyone was on JJ's case when he got here and look at what he has done. sure st denis and wyman are better than clarke and van vliet, but beggars can't be choosers and we need bodies right now and healthy, capable players are here are better than guys that you wish were here.
i'm not siding with anyone here, i'm just saying that before you judge someone wait to see how they perform. if you want to judge on the basis of their size then you might as well take the kelly cup away because our team was so small last year. i'm all for judging players on how they perform...which is why i hate matt macdonald....and why i hated bryan schmidt (until he actually stepped up come playoff time last year). i'm not going to judge a guy until i see how he plays and it pisses me off when i see people bashing someone because he's small before they ever see him play. |

Ferrazoli is no Desharnais, no Daoust, no Russell. I'm not "blasting" him-but he doesn't have the skill set of the small players who perform well at the ECHL level. He's not lightning quick and doesn't possess either the passing or shooting skills that the above mentioned players had. He's been playing at the semi-pro level and is 28 years old. I think that probably every Coach/GM in the ECHL shares this assessment of him.
He's a fill in. Which is fine. He appears to try hard. But he's not the type of player who is going to make much of an impact. He's listed at 5-6 and MacLeod appears to have at least 5 to 6" heighth advantage on Ferrazoli. MacLeod is listed at 5-9.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road.......
MacDonald was an outstanding player during his tenure with the Cyclones. The only time he wasn't was this season and that was only the result of him trying to do too much to cover for his inferior teammates and lousy goalie (The Juice). He's a very good defensive defenseman who excels at the stay-at-home game and can deliver huge checks upon occasion. |

PTO = Professional try-out contract
This is an animal found only in the AHL. PTO's are for 25 games, but the player can be released before that. He can also be signed to a second PTO, but after two PTO's he either becomes a free agent or is signed to a SPC - standard players' contract (also just called an "AHL contract"). This is off a Atlanta Thrashers fan site |
