Well, I may get stoned to death, but here is my take on the ticket price increase.
1. The "Below average" fan may take some exception, but they don't go to enough games to make a difference anyway. Besides, at $12.00, it's still bargain entertainment considering what you get.
2. It won't effect full season ticket holders...still translates to $10.00. I don't know if I'll get a full season again next year, but will most likely get a half. Instead of two tickets though, I'll probably get 3. I'll gladly pay the extra $1.00 a seat!
3. If ANY of the ticket price increase plays a role in keeping Chuck (yes I know he's under contract next year) and Dean, and keeping QUALITY hockey in Cincinnati, I'll pay the increase with a smile on my face! Championships and winners don't come cheap, and considering the other two losers in town that are out of the playoff races in their sports before the season even starts, I'll take this any day for another $2.00.
4. Remember two years ago when the Cyclones LOWERED ticket prices during the season. Yes it was to draw more people and it worked, but the pendulum had to swing back the other way eventually. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I still think we're about the cheapest in the division, if not the league.
Well, I'll get off my soap box now...GO CYCLONES! |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

Okay Cloneinator,I know where you are coming from but look at past history.EVERY time prices have been raised, attendance is hit as high as 20%. In the HOCKEY community, our prices are cheap but we are not competing with hockey but instead with movies, high school sports and other cheap nights out. If we had a season ticket fan base of 3,000, I could agree with the raise is due. But a 20% raise in prices- I see our 3,000 average from this year dropping to 2,750 next year.I hope I am wrong and I will even eat crow if it goes up. |

I will definitely be getting season tickets for next year and will be putting down my 1/3 by March 31st. Keeping it at $10 per ticket is my thought.
I didn't buy season tickets this year because there was no financial incentive to it. It may be more convenient, but at the time my thinking was getting people to come with me to games. Just buying tickets to each game was easier for me when I needed more than just one ticket. And I did come to every home game so far this year except for one, due to prior committment.
But now that it's cheaper for the season tickets and there's usually plenty of room around my area for people to choose from if they decide to randomly come to a game, I will be proud to be Cyclones Season Ticket Holder. |

And I totally agree with you Bags, in that the pressure will be on the organization to keep putting out a winning team. If Chuck leaves and we become cellar dwellers next year, the attendance will take a hit. But I firmly believe if they continue to put out quality hockey, attendance will not drop. I organize 3 to 4 group nights a year and no one will balk at the extra couple bucks, IF they like what they see. Only time will tell, but speaking JUST for myself, I have no issues with the increase. |

Commonly understood? Yes, to the small number of people who actually follow hockey in this town. But to the general public, they wouldn't know where the Cyclones stand in ticket prices any more than they know the name of any one player on the team.

Did you mean psychological effect? What effect would that be?
By most, do you mean more than 50% of the people who follow hockey, or do you mean more than 50% of everyone who ever attends games?

Again, I have to disagree. There is a small number of people who actually know and care about the Cyclones' record, and all of those people will still go to the games because they are the true fans of the team. The pressure will be on the organization to keep finding good promotions and ways to keep getting the non-fans to want to come to games at $2 more per ticket.
The faithful will be there no matter what. |

I meant physiological. That they'd get sick. It was a typo
I've talked to a lot of people who have come to Cyclone games and who are not regulars and they almost universally catagorize the price of a ticket as "cheap". I don't imagine that this perception will change with a $2 increase.
While management is taking some risk in announcing an increase now, there are two factors to be considered: One, who knows where the economy will be in 8 months (October)? Two, the $10 pricing was originally a desperation measure by management. The team wasn't drawing flies and management made a bold, but smart move. Attendance is up almost 2/3rds since the price change. It was never considered to be a long term pricing strategy. Now management must believe that the base of fans and the organization's promotional strategy is sound enough to edge prices up a bit to more realistic levels. |

$2 per ticket X 3 kids= $6 a game $6 X 12 games= $72 extra for the season. so that's 12 X 3=36, 36 X 12=432 $432 I might as well just buy 3 season tickets and turn in the unused ones for the games they don't come to so I can get them at $10 instead of $12 for at lease one of them, Or do we get them at $10 for being season ticket holders no mater what as long if we get or $120 per seat in before April 1st? I know in the past before the $10 all seat thing we got the discount. So will they be $10 0r $12 for season ticket holders? |

| Now they can also look like they are giving a great discount to groups. Example 25 tickets at 10 instead of 12 the group will think its a great deal. just my 2 cents. |

| It should also be noted that most tickets were $17 a few years ago so $12 is still a bargain. |

| Heck...if you can get 25 people together at the $10 price, you might as well get a suite up top. They are, I believe, $250 a game. I think thats a good deal, but 25 people would make for one crowded suite... |
