Let me just clarify, I think we go again with Nie tonight, and I too think that GMiller needs to sit.
Not having Coglhan (#33) due to that injury hurt us, cause he's a big presence, and losing Syro in game 1 also definitely did the same in losing our goal-line D image.
You would think that 2 of the top 3 highest scoring teams in the league would be piling on goals, but I refuse to say this is a battle of goalies either.
Offense for us is just stale right now. |

In all honesty, no one ran away with the division. This Wheeling team is every bit as good as the one that was leading the league early in the season. The only key players missing are Rob Sirianni and Elgin Reid, but most, if not all, of what they lost with them, they got back with the additions of Billy Ryan and Reid Cashman.
The downfall of their regular season was the injury to David Brown. Curtis Darling was pathetic in his absence. Remember the 10 goals your guys put up against Darling? That was at the beginning of that stretch. They also have complete periods and sometimes games where the lack of effort is startling. They've showed up to play in this series so far.
Don't underestimate the Nailers, they've got plenty of talent. If they work hard, they can match up well with anyone in this league. It's getting that consistent effort from them that has been an issue. |

What do you think happened to us when we were in first for a while and then we dropped out of first place. Woodrow is totally correctin saying that oone ran away with the division like we did last year. Wheeling deserves to be in the playoffs. Can you tell by the way they are playing us. We are the ones that dont look like we have ANY business being here. They are dominating us on every aspect. |

I dont remember anywhere that I said anything about the Cyclones running away with the division, nor did I take away from WHL's play.
I just simply believe that, like every year, someone gets off on a fast start, and typically around the All-Star break, they fall back to earth. Once WHL fell, they just maintained. The Clones were constantly on the way up, and MAINTAINED at the top, whether it was a share of the division lead, or out-right.
If I remember correctly, I said "so we cant afford another game like last night, or Thursday..." so its not like I said anything about how us playing better than Wheeling. |

Wait...I stand corrected. I will stick by my words of saying that Wheeling DID back into the playoffs. This cant be argued, as even though the top 5-6 teams were within points of each other, WHL's fate was decided thanks to us beating J-Town last Saturday. We were already in, days in advance...

| Optomistically, we are not out of it yet. Tonight is a MUST WIN. Realistically, with the way "Oh My Darlin'" is standing on his head, and our inability to shoot a puck higher than 2 inches or to find a corner we may have seen our last game at USBA. The Clones keep shooting at the 5 hole and low glove side. When they actually get the puck on net, which has been rare, it either goes right to the Nailer logo or lower. About two times a game we have shot the puck in the air, each time to the glove side and has been snagged. Both goals we have scored have been forced in by a mess in front of the net. WHL looks twice as fast as we do and their passing....WOW! I think their passing is better than we had last year. Tape to tape, in stride laser-like! I would never have guessed this. With the way we have been playing at the end of the regular season, and WHL's backslide into the playoffs, I really thought we would take it in 5. I know the refs haven't helped any but that's no excuse for being outplayed for 2 straight games. Hope to see you all again this year. |

The Clones will lose in 4 if they don't stop this dump and chase Ron Smith style crap. It didn't work in the 1st game so why would it work in the 2nd game? We need to just skate the puck in a get better shots on net. I still think the Clones will be back here on Saturday. Most of the guys were mad as hell(as they should be) after last nights game so we should see a better and fired up team tonight in WHL. I still think they can win this serise but it will take all 7 games. I think we take 2 in WHL and come home and win game 6 and 7. I have faith in this team just like i had in the team that played the #1 and then the #2 seed in the playoffs years ago and then lost to the Bullies in 7 games. GO CYCLONES you guys can do it. |

| We cant just skate in they are stacking the blue line with 4 players. I toatally agree witht eh better shots on net. Last night there were about 5-6 shots that could have went straight into the stands if the nets were not there. |

ClonesFan, you are one of the few people that bring up that memorable season. I had just moved back from IL and went to almost every game in the 2nd half of that 02-03 season.
To lose in game 7 of the Conference championship was just devastating, but I think the team we were given the following year was even more devastating LOL.
Either way, this year, its our Cup to take back, or let go of. I say we take it back, even if it takes till game 7 of each series. Play all out, every second of every game :) |

wheeling has come up with a strategy that i'm sure has chuck pulling his hair out. in the neutral zone they are trapping in a way that limits skating space and makes it difficult to even dump the puck up the boards. it has effectively forced us out of our small passing, puck support breakout and into trying to make long cross ice passes through the neutral zone which the wheeling defense are simply stepping into, picking off, and jump starting the transition offense.
the 3 in 3 format makes it tough for the coaching staff change it up. tonite is, like several have said, a must win for us. as woodrow has said darling played nothing like this in the regular season and i too wonder how long he can keep it up. if we keep shooting at the elusive "6-hole" however, he'll keep stopping the pucks because to my knowledge i've never witnessed someone scoring through the hole in the goalies chest.... |
