After another increase in overall attendance this regular season, after a crowd of over 11,000 the last home game the Cyclones averaged over 3000 on the regular season. They are currently averaging 3,453 in the playoffs which is pretty impressive considering tonight's game, a Monday, which had little to no promotion and no discounts besides it of course being a crucial game seven ... 2856 showed up for it.
Hard not to see the positive in this. |

4290 first round average this year compared to 4162 on the weekend for last year's first round. This, of course, is despite a 20% price increase.
When one factors in the extra games, concessions and price increase, the Cyclones probably came close to doubling their revenue of the first round last year.
I know that we compete against the Reds this coming weekend, but I'm hopeful that we can match games 1 and 2 of last year's CONFERENCE Series. We drew 4853 and 5210 for an average of 5032 for those games. Round 2 of last year entirely consisted of weekday home games, so there is little basis for a comparison to be made with last year's round 2.
Somehow or another, I don't think that anyone felt cheated at $12 a pop last evening! If that game won't bring back the marginal fan, then nothing will. |

I think I will just park in Newport at my moms house and walk or take the Shuttle over the bridge. |

| I wish the Cyclones game could be moved til 8 this Friday. That would give the Reds fans time to get into the stadium. But I guess we just need to get down there earlier. :) Just glad we have atleast 2 more games. |

| Better yet all the sorry souls going to the reds game should take a clue, come to the hockey game...then maybe at least we could get some carpools going and they could see what winning looks like. |

When compared with the 4 home games of the 06-07 playoff season, this year's numbers really show how far the team has come.
06-07 5786 total 1447 avg. 08-09 13811 total 3453 avg.
If memory serves me correctly, we also had two weekday games in the 06-07 mix AND our opponent for 3 of the games was Dayton (the other Toledo) which certainly helped that year's draw.
This year is up 139% from 06-07 through 4 home playoff games. That's double plus almost 40%. |
