I was really surprised how well we played with the ice being so bad. You couldn't even see the sponsors through the ice barely.. haha.

Only saw from the third period on, but great short-handed insurance goal by Ehgoetz in the third. Welcome back Rank. Glad to see Nie get a deserving start and get the job done.
Late in the third Mike Stergroid actually tried to start a fight with Nie, to Nie's humor. Can't wait to see this fool on the brink of a sweep Friday night. |

Things are really beginning to take a good form for us now.
Both goalies are in solid form. The offense which produced 17 goals in 7+ games vs. Wheeling has produced 17 in 3 games.
Rank's return provided an added spark (and goal) last night. Miller got some much needed playing time. The penalty kill, which had been so poor up until the last 10 or so regular season games is now killing off penalties at a very respectable 84.8%. Everything appears to be clicking except Van Guilder.
Looking ahead to the next round (at 3-zip, I'm gonna do it!) there is a very interesting set of circumstances which could benefit us greatly. Shorty Rock (he poses as a Cyclones fan but really is a Stingrays fan) noticed that the N. Charleston Coliseum is booked on May 8th, 9th and 10th. The Conference Finals are slated to begin on May 8th. So, should SC advance-and they stand a very good chance of doing so-the Conf. Finals would open here. Given how bad our home record is relative to our road record, that isn't the great advantage. The advantage is in that SC will have to make the lovely 11 hour bus trip first. They will lose the traditional advantage that is big in a bus league. I would imagine that the format would change from the traditional 2-3-2 to a 2-3-1-1.
In any case, the Cyclones are peaking at just the right time. A second KC Championship is well within the realm of possiblities although Alaska seems to be a very exceptional team and would be the deserving favorite should we meet them in the finals. |

hrc666, I've been telling people I speak too all year that Alaska is the team I feel we'd face when we get to defending our cup in late May.
I agree though, this team is really gellin' at the right time, and hopefully it carries on through the 3rd round, whoever it is we play - SC or FL |

| I wonder if the game tonight is going to get nasty. Elmira has everything to lose, so do they come out swinging? I think tonight might be a bit ugly. Any idea on the officials yet? |

Unfortunately, I talked to a friend in Charleston and he informed me that the events scheduled for May 8th & 9th are actually at the Performing Arts Center (attached to the North Charleston Coliseum)... The downside is that Games 1 & 2 would not be in Cincinnati, but the good news is that we now have several days of rest before getting on the bus for the trip.... |
