| SC takes game 1, 4-2. Impressive victory for the Stingrays playing 4 time zones from home! |

| Alaska strikes back, 3-1, ties the series. Sounds like a great series. I wish we were playing in it. |

| Don't you think this topic should be elsewhere? It has nothing to do with the Cyclones. |
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

| Why does it matter, really? Its the end of the season, the team that beat us is IN the series, so I consider that a topic of relevance, although I dont care either way, I just dont think its that big of a deal that it cant be talked about on this part of the board. |

Thank you , Mike. Finally, someone understands my sense of humor (based on sarcasm a lot). As for hockey, all of my favorite teams are out of the play-offs, so hockey season is over for me. And the Freedoms season just started this past Wednesday. Their record is 2-2. |

SC takes game 3, 4-2. The Stingrays are not dominating, but playing VERY solid hockey. Interestingly enough, Boutin sat this evening and Riemer was just as good between the pipes. At this rate SC could end this without having to make the return trip to Anchorage.
I don't know why but compared to last year the attendance is way down. I can't believe SC can't break 4000 even it is a weeknight. They have had huge crowds (10,000+) in the past. |

SC's crowds are heavily exaggerated during the regular season from what I hear. The Conference Finals games drew about 2,000 each (I was there) and the announced numbers were somewhat higher. SC's huge attendance declines from the past are symptomatic of the seeming Death of Hockey in the South. The NHL teams in Florida (2), Nashville, Atlanta and Phoenix are all in varying degrees of trouble. Phoenix recently filed for bankruptcy and may be moved.
Florida's attendance is on the slide. The southern CHL teams are mostly in deep trouble. The cities which used to have AHL, ECHL and other teams south of the Mason-Dixon Line are too numerous to list. SC has a strong possibility of being the next Greenville-win the KC and go defunct two years later. I hope that I'm wrong about this.
It looks as if the West consisted of one good team and the rest were garbage. Other than Alaska, no team had over 83 points. Alaska's seemingly incredible penalty kill (about 90% during the regular season and 93% in the playoffs before this series) must be pretty average given that SC has scored a PP in every game so far on limited opportunites. This suggests that the level of competition out West left something to be desired. Too bad we couldn't have had a chance to go against the Best of the Worst. |

^^ Sounds like sour grapes. Maybe the Rays PP is just that good? And you did have a "CHANCE" to go against the "BEST OF THE WORST", you just couldnt beat the the best the American Conf Had to offer........ LETS GO RAYS!!!!!!!!!
All I'm saying is give credit where credit is due. Had the Cyclones been a better team than SC they would be playing right now.

Somehow we broke into two topics, but no one is talking much so I'll comment on both:
SC's power play was very good in the games I saw; I believe I made the comment about perhaps the best we had seen all year. It would have been a better series if we were healthy but coulda, shoulda, woulda. The Stingrays are peaking right now when they have too. They are healthy and are getting confident. Alaska may very well not make it out of the low country.
With regards to the death of Southern hockey... while the ECHL and CHL seem to be withering the SPHL has added former ECHL cities Pensacola and Biloxi (well, maybe in 2010) and signed on Lafayette. Last year they saved the Corpus Christi Rays from going dark by finding new ownership. Having never seen SPHL hockey I cannot comment on the level of hockey but from what I have read its sounds like single A at best. I wonder what financially or crowd wise they offer that the ECHL cannot.

I said nothing in my post which could be construed as sour grapes.
Are you plain stupid, drunk or just a worthless troll?

SC puts up a five spot (to nothing) on the Aces and puts a stranglehold on the series 3-1. The only question left is whether Alaska can make the Stingrays fly back to Anchorage to pick up the Cup.
To Broken Stick, nothing personal, but your team is winning the damn Kelly Cup... go celebrate with your own kind ! Congratulations, we can continue this discussion again next season. |
