With the loss of so many Western teams,I wonder if some western games will be added for next year.If each western team comes east for three road series and each eastern goes west for three, some new excitement can be generated.I'm sure Vegas would love to get us again and Alaska would love a crack at South Carolina. I know the travel cost is the big hit but I'm tired of seeing Wheeling or Johnstown or Dayton (now will be Toledo) over and over again. If we play Las Vegas-make it a road series in February ! |

| hammer was working on drafts of the 09-10 schedule at the last coach's show. he said there will be NO inter-conference play next season. i'm not 100% but i think that is a league wide thing. |

I hope if we aren't going to have any western games,at least let us play ALL of the eastern teams. This was the second straight year of playing a "cold" opponent in the semi-finals.All the eastern teams should get at least a two game series either on the road or at home against all the teams.I would love a chance to play a two and two against South Carolina. Nothing like playing Johnstown 4 straight (one road and three homes)to get the mild fans out to the arena. If not for season tickets,I would have skipped at least one of those final three games. |

Just wondering if they are ECHL bound next season.
Seems I spoke too soon....

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I guess with Kalamazoo in,here will be the divisions North Cincinnati,Elmira,Johnstown,Toledo,Wheeling and Kalamazoo (6) South Charlotte,Florida,Gwinnett,Reading,South Carolina and Trenton (6) How about going to a three division set-up as : Midwest Cincinnati,Toledo,Kalamazoo and Wheeling (4) North Johnstown,Reading,Elmira, and Trenton (4) South Charlotte,Florida,Gwinnett and South Carolina (4) |

As expected once they withdrew from the IHL, the KWings are now in the ECHL.
Their owner is a very deep pocketed individual. This is a huge blow to the IHL.
We will play all Conference teams in 2009-10. This means that we will play both home and away against Reading, Trenton, SC, Florida, Gwinnett and Charlotte.
We won't be playing Western teams. The Cyclones took Western trips for two years running and will have enough travel with Florida and SC in the scheduling mix.

| Remember that the Kwings may have left but the IHL picked up the Dayton Gems. So they still have 6 teams unless Ft. Wayne leaves too. |

| I wonder what will happen if Dayton returns next year? Will Kwings stay or do they send another team in our division south again? |

i wouldn't count on fort wayne joining the echl or any other league as long as the ihl has 6 teams and can function as a league. here's why, the ownership of the komet's was very influential in the return of the ihl when the uhl folded. i was told at one point that the owner's of the komet's owned the rights to the trademarks for the ihl, turner cup and other things involved in with the ihl. a little researched has shows that the trademark rights for the ihl are owned by summit sports, inc. which is located at 1010 Memorial Way, Suite 100 Fort Wayne INDIANA 46805. this address just so happens to be exactly the same as the fort wayne komet front office.
if the komet's owners also own the rights to the league why would they leave the league that they own.

| cove, we still have to see what the echl board of governors decides, but as it has been stated in other threads, but with the dayton gems starting up next fall, i would be surprised if the board of governors votes to approve the bombers return. |

Look at the playoff situation.West would have ALL 8 teams make the playoffs and we have 4 stay home. How about this idea-We use a three division set with the first two from each locked in.The last 2 spots are the best remaining record. Now is the wild card-if we have non-playoff teams in spots 9-12 with BETTER records then the west two lowest-they then gain the spots in the west bracket ahead of the western teams. This way one or two western teams could miss the playoffs and our better teams would replace them. |

| bags, since there will be no head to head meetings between the american and national conferences i'm not sure how fair that would be. you'd also, have to consider the travel implications. your idea is interesting though. i'm looking forward to see how the board of governors deals with this. it's obviously unfair that all 4 western teams get in and 4 teams from out conference get left out, but the solution, not only needs to balance this out, but also maintain that teams from each conference need to win the same number of games to win the kelly cup. |

I know the travel part is bad but would you rather be Johnstown and stay home or have the chance to play Alaska in the first round ? How about if WE finish 5th in our 6 team division with 6 more wins than the worst west team.Would they deserve to make the playoffs when we don't. If you had to do a 3 game west start followed by 2 in the eastern city for a best of 5,I would still take it. |
