Cyclones Add Defenseman Jamie Coghlan

Date: 07/30/2009

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones announced today that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Jamie Coghlan. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

Coghlan, 25, enters his second season as a professional after splitting last season between Fresno and Cincinnati. Starting the season with Fresno, Jamie played in twelve games and had an assist and nine penalty minutes for the Pacific Division leaders. When the Falcons folded on December 22, he signed as a free agent with Cincinnati. He appeared in 41 games with the Cyclones, netting a goal and four assists for five points and 43 penalty minutes. His +11 plus/minus rating was fifth-best on the club and second-best among Cincinnati rearguards.

The six-foot-three, 195 pounder from Toronto earned three varsity letters at Mercyhurst College, appearing in 81 games during his career and collecting three goals and six assists for nine points and 76 penalty minutes.

“Jamie Coghlan was a welcomed addition to our hockey club a year ago. He was a stabilizing force on our blueline and contributed to our success with his style of play. We look for more of the same this season.”

Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The Cyclones open the season at Elmira on Friday, October 16 and after three road games, host their home opener at U.S. Bank Arena against Wheeling on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm. There will be a special divisional championship banner raising ceremony prior to that game.

Here's a blast from the past....

http://www.wingsstadium.com/news/2009/07-30_ftorek.htm

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

ZINGER!!!!!

Wtf! He and CWeb must not have gotten along, cause he was a decent player here, and the fact that he's coming back to this league and not to us says something. I know his age is a factor, and his veteran status, but come on...His dad, played here, as did he, nuff said....

Oh well, I cant harrass Greg Labinski (sp) in Dayton anymore for being the traitor he is, so I guess I can start with Sam....it'll be hard, but somebody's gotta do it!!!

Glad to here Coughlin is returning. He's a capable player and a super nice guy.

At first I detested Ftorek. He grew on me as time wore on. He was an incredibly "heady" player who was always in position. Except when his skating (glacial) prevented it

And what a shot!!!!!

I'm glad I'll have a chance to watch Ftorek play this year. I think that we play Kalamazoo every other game or something like that.

As of now the Cinsinnati Cyclones have three players under contract. They now have defensemen Jamie Coghlan, Jason Woll and forward Barret Ehgoetz. And Hamilton(Montreal) is responsible to provide 5 players( I think????). Forward Danny Masse, Goalie Robert Mayer, and defensemen Michael Busto, Frederic St. Denis are my early favorites to start the year with the Cyclones plus one more player(who??????).

So with that in mind my question is............ Is this normal in the ECHL to be in August with so many holes in your lineup???
