Welcome a former Cincinnati Mighty Duck to the Clones. A very good pick up but what about the Affiliates?

Cyclones Agree To Terms With Dwayne Zinger

Date: 09/14/2009

CINCINNATI, Ohio The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHLs Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this morning they have agreed to terms with defenseman Dwayne Zinger for the 2009-10 season.

Zinger, 33, spent his ninth professional season with Odense (Denmark), appearing in 27 games, collecting a goal and seven assists for eight points and 34 penalty minutes. He spent his first eight seasons as a pro playing in the American Hockey League (AHL), playing in 636 games, netting 23 goals and adding 70 assists for 93 points and amassing 869 penalty minutes. Dwayne also saw time in the National Hockey League (NHL), playing seven games with the Washington Capitals during the 2003-04 season.

The six-foot-four, 230 pound native of Coronation, AB, spent the first two full seasons of his professional career (1999-2002) with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (AHL), playing in 149 games, netting twelve goals and adding 24 assists for 36 points and nabbing 309 penalty minutes. Zinger makes his year round home in Cincinnati, having come to the Queen City after completing four years at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (1996-97 through 1999-2000).

Dwayne Zinger gives us another veteran presence, Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. He is a guy that will be able to help teach the younger guys on the squad and at the same time help solidify our blueline.

The addition of Dwayne Zinger brings the number of players on the Cyclones roster to 18. He joins forwards Hans Benson, Jonathan Duchesneau, Kenton Dulle, Barret Ehgoetz, Jimmy Kilpatrick, Adam Krug, Matt Pierce, Brett Robinson, Dustin Sproat and Mark Voakes and defensemen Jamie Coghlan, Doug Krantz, Kirk Medernach, Brian OHanley, Kevin Roeder, Brock Sheahan and Jason Woll.

Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The Cyclones open the season at Elmira on Friday, October 16 and after three road games, host their home opener at U.S. Bank Arena against Wheeling on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm. There will be a special divisional championship banner raising ceremony prior to that game.
