It's now just a matter of hours till we meet up in Kalamazoo. I heard that it's dollar beer/hot dog night for tomorrow's game.
Elvis-I'll have a beer for you!

Yes, it's $1 Beer/Hot Dog night, or a Frugal Friday as they're called here. Intermissions are horrible to get stuff on $1 nights unless you can get out into the concourse quickly on those nights, but if you can slip away during a period it's a quick stop at the concession stand. Though I guess compared to a crowd of 11,000 even a busy time wouldn't seem so bad for you guys and gals...
Make sure to buy some orange Chuck-a-Pucks before the game starts as well, I believe the table selling them is just outside the box office to the right. Nothing better than throwing stuff onto the ice and not getting in trouble for it (well, assuming it's at the Chuck-a-Puck time at intemrission)! Watching the little kids all come out to collect the pucks afterwards is always fun as well...
If you want a game program, you'll have to go to the stand right outside and opposite the box office -- it's the only place they sell programs now (back in the old IHL days they used to sell them around the whole concourse area, but they don't do that anymore. The other shops no longer have them). So take note if you want a program/gamesheet.
One last thing -- for those of you that've been to Wings Stadium in the (ancient?) past and maybe remember it... the dull lighting was replaced this past offseason so it's much brighter now inside the main arena. I believe the boards and lights were both replaced after being acquired from Reunion Arena in Dallas.
For those making the trip up, have fun and hope you enjoy it and our old barn! Fans in Kzoo are excited to be seeing what we most all consider a better caliber of hockey, and it'll be fun to have Cincy coming to town once again. |

Primis,
Thanks for all the info.
I find it hard to believe that Kzoo fans think that they're watching a better brand of hockey than the AA+ IHL
The way things are going for Dayton, Flint and Port Huron, it appears as if you'll have a chance to rekindle your Fort Wayne rivalry as early as next season. |

I am really not up on the IHL HRC. Are you implying we might be picking up Fort Wayne next year? Wouldn't that be great!
Great post Primis. I am thrilled to have the Wings back. My first hockey game was against them at the Gardens. I hope if you make it down this way we can return the hospitality. |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

Ft Wayne (as always)and Quad City are the only teams in the IHL that is bringing anybody in attendance wise Port Huron, Flint, and Dayton are worse then us when we came back in 06-07, Bloomington and Muskegon are ok but not the best. |

Three teams in the IHL (Dayton, Flint and Port Huron) draw 1500 per game. Bloomington and Muskegon will do about 2500 per game this year. Only Fort Wayne (7000) and Quad Cities (4000) are viable. At some point, the bubble bursts for the IHL and the few teams (FTW, QC and possible one other) that are sustainable will have to find another league. That league will be the ECHL.
Whether that time is next year or not, it is coming. The owner of Kalamazoo saw the writing on the wall and abandoned the sinking IHL ship earlier this year. The others will have to follow at some point. |
