TOLEDO, Ohio It was not a tall tale fish story Sunday at Lucas County Arena, the Cyclones let the Toledo Walleye get away with a 4-3 win. Cincinnati never trailed until the final 92 secondsas Toledo ended a four game winless streak (0-2-2). Barret Ehgoetz scored a pair of goals for the Cyclones in the defeat.

The Cyclones opened the scoring with a five-on-three power play at 17:52 with a shot from the bottom of the right circle. Barret Ehgoetz picked up his fourth score of the campaign as Ryan Del Monte and Jason Jozsa had the assists. Less than a minute later at 18:30, Ryan Stokes got behind the Cincinnati defense and scored a breakaway goal as Jamie Milam and Chris Robertson had the assists. The shots on goal favored the Cyclones, 15-9, in the opening period.

Cincinnati regained the lead at 2-1 when Ehgoetz picked up his second of the afternoon and fifth of the year at 2:10. Brock Sheahan and Mike McLean had the assists on the score. Toledo knotted the scores again at two each when Chris Robertson deflected a shot and turned it into a shorthanded breakaway goal at 12:10 for his first score of the year. The Cyclones grabbed the lead seconds before the intermission when rookie Matt Pierce fired a shot from the bottom of the right circle for his twelfth goal of the campaign from Scott Reynolds and Dustin Sproat. The power play goal took him into the lead for ECHL goals by a first-year player (twelve) and man-advantage goals (six). The shots on goal favored Cincinnati, 15-10, in the frame.

Toledo scored both goals of the third period to take the 4-3 win. Adam Hobson collected his seventh goal of the season at 9:09 on the power play to even the scores at three. Then, with 1:32 to play Robertson streaked up the left wing side and slipped home his second goal of the afternoon and second of the season to claim the win. The Walleye outshot Cincinnati, 12-8, in the period. For the game, the Cyclones held the upper hand in shots at 39-33.

Billy Sauer picked up his second win of the season for the Walleye, stopping 36 shots, while Robert Mayer dropped his third decision of the seasonstopping 29 shots. Cincinnati was two for ten on the power play, while Toledo was one for three with the man-advantage.

Cincinnati is now 7-7-1, while Toledo is 7-5-3. The Cyclones return to U.S. Bank Arena to host a pair of games against the North Division leaders, Kalamazoo, on Wednesday (November 25) and Friday (November 27). Game time each night is at 7:30pm.

The next game on 1530 Homer will come Friday night (November 27) when Kalamazoo visits the Cyclones at 7:30pm.
