CINCINNATI Goaltender Mark Dekanich stopped 27 shots and kept the Florida Everblades off the scoreboard in a 3-0 win for the Cincinnati Cyclones. The win was Cincinnati's fourth straight and sixth in the last seven games. The Cyclones trail the Kalamazoo Wings by one point for the North Division lead.

The first period was scoreless. Statistically, Florida had the edge, outshooting Cincinnati, 10-5, and having three power play chances to the Cyclones one. Hans Benson and Barret Ehgoetz had the best scoring chances of the stanza, as Benson let loose with a shot from point blank range and Ehgoetz banging one off the crossbar within 30 seconds of one another in the final three minutes.

Cincinnati exploded for three second periods, all within 1:59 of each other. Barret Ehgoetz notched his seventh of the season from Reid Cashman and Brett Motherwell. Just 19 seconds later, following a Florida turnover, Brett Robinson netted his sixth goal in the last season games from Mike McLean and Dustin Sproat. Motherwell's first goal as a Cyclones came 1:40 after Robinson's score. Cashman and McLean had the helpers. The shots favored Cyclones, 10-7, in the period.

The third period was scoreless and again Florida outshot the Cyclones, 10-5. For the night, the Cyclones were two-for-seven on the power play while Florida was zero-for-four. Mark Dekanich stopped all 27 shots for Cincinnati to run his record to 2-0. Mike Morrison absorbed the loss, stopping 17 shots for Florida.

Dekanich made his bid for ECHL Goaltender of the Week by stopping 51 of the 52 shots he faced in the two games against Florida and also thwarted all four shootout shots faced last night.

Cincinnati is now 13-8-1, while Florida is 11-9-4. The Cyclones have a week to prepare for their next opponent, the Reading Royals, who will visit U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday, December 12 at 7:30pm. That game will be carried on the internet at: www.cycloneshockey.com.

Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. Selected Friday night games are carried on 1530-AM Homer, while all 72 regular season games can be heard on the club's website at: www.cycloneshockey.com. The next game on 1530 Homer will come Friday, January 8 when the Cyclones travel to Wheeling at 7:30pm.

Dekanich looked pretty good, but I think he needs a bit more time before he's ready for the rigors of the AHL.

In another month or so, he'll be primed and ready.

He was only going to be here for the weekend anyway from what the Admirals said and he played well enough to get back to Milwaukee in that time frame
