CINCINNATI - Reading Royals rookie goaltender Matt Dalton stopped 36 Cincinnati Cyclones shots en route to a 4-2 win on Sunday. The loss ended Cincinnati's season-long five game winning streak. Mike McLean had a pair of assists for the Cyclones in the defeat.

Reading scored twice in the opening three minutes to build a 2-0 edge after the first period. Daniel Steiner collected his ninth goal of the season from Ben Gordon and Ryan Cruthers during the opening shift of the game. The score at 1:03 was the first time Reading led during the weekend series. The lead extended to 2-0 when Eric Werner picked up his third score at 2:54 from Rob Lalonde and Gordon. The shots on goal favored Cincinnati, 16-7, in the frame.

The Cyclones closed the gap at 5:49 of the second period when tenth year veteran Dwayne Zinger netted his second goal of the campaign from Mike McLean. The shorthanded goal was the eighth of the season for Cincinnati, second-most in the ECHL. The shots on goal in the second favored Cincinnati again, 11-8.

Reading grabbed another two goal lead when Stefano Giliati picked up his ninth goal of the season on a break up the left wing side off a turnover in the neutral zone. The Cyclones closed the gap to 3-2 when Ryan Del Monte notched his third of the season from Jason Jozsa and McLean. A power play goal from Rob Lalonde at 12:49 for the Royals closed the scoring in the 4-2 decision. Cincinnati outshot the Royals again, 11-9, in the period. For the game, the Cyclones outshot Reading, 38-24.

Matt Dalton picked up his sixth win of the season, stopping 36 Cincinnati shots. Jeremy Smith had his three game win streak snapped and drops to 6-5-1 with a 22 save effort. The Cyclones were zero for three on the power play, while Reading was one for five with the man-advantage.

Cincinnati is now 14-9-1, while Reading is 14-9-3. The Cyclones host Toledo on Tuesday (December 15) at 7:30pm in the final home game before Christmas. It is a 'Big Beer Tuesday' with selected 24 ounce domestic beers priced at two dollars each. That game will be carried on the internet at: www.cycloneshockey.com.

Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The next game on 1530 Homer will come Friday, January 8 when the Cyclones travel to Wheeling at 7:30pm.
