| I'm sure everyone just got their e-mail about playoff ticket prices being $14.00 (front row $26.50). With parking at $10.00 in the garage and no doubt concessions at full price, does anyone other than me think this just may hurt overall attendance? |

Did that start this year? I thought the playoff tickets remained the same last year as they were during the regular season. |

Even if they were $20 I'd be there. Otherwise I'd have to drive a long way to see playoff hockey, and I love playoff hockey.
My wife and I went to "The Pub" last week and had a couple of beers each and dinner. Then we went to a movie. Total tab for the night... $65.
I'd have rather been at a playoff hockey game. Just sayin'.

Thanks CrazyG. I was not sure about that.
I totally agree with you Catch22. But when the wife and I add the kids it really starts adding up. Four tickets, parking, gas (I live 30 miles away) eats, etc. would be pushing $80.00 +. Unreasonable for a night out, definitely not. But making two to four games in a week span..., plus hopefully a deep playoff run, it probably starts taxing the ol' wallet and things are a little tight. I will make every game I can but like everyone, I have a lot of other expenses too and have to prioritize. |

| A several years ago the ticket prices went up every round. So $14 for every game seems like a middle of the road number. |

1. Don't eat at the arena. We NEVER do that unless there is some sort of $1 deal. Its no different than any sporting event or movie in that the prices are outrageous.
2. If your kids don't care, don't bring them. Our kids don't really care, so we don't pay the extra money to bring them. I'm just not going to pay $14 for my stepdaughter to sit there and text for 2.5 hours when she can do that for free at home.
3. Park in the $5 lots. Especially when the weather is warmer.
There are lots of ways to keep the costs down. We usually hit a happy hour somewhere and have a beer and a burger before weekday games and end up spending WAY less than a beer and a hot dog costs at the arena.
I guess what I'm saying is that even a hefty price increase won't keep me away from playoff games. I'll just save that money some other way. If the tickets go up to $25 each... OK. Now dinner is a value meal at Chik-fil-A. But I'll still be at that game.

No. The ECHL has mandated the $2 "surcharge" since at least 2000. We did pay it last year, but the year of our $10 tickets USBA paid the league but they didn't pass the costs to us fans. |

Great points, Catch22.
The only time I don't park in the $5 lot is when the Reds games overlap late in the season. It's really not much more of a walk than the garage, and you even have the option to take the elevator to the top level.
$14 seems a little high to many considering we were paying just $10 two years ago, but we were spoiled amidst a marketing experiment to try to save attendance. $14, especially for playoffs (in comparison to the rest of the league, of course), is reasonable. It could get a little pricey if we make another deep playoff run, but it's really no more than most forms of entertainment these days, whether it's going out to a nice dinner, movies, etc. Not eating at the arena is a given. It always confuses me when people factor in food with ticket prices, etc ... eating at the game, just like eating at any other sporting event or King's Island, is going to crush your wallet embarrassingly. I understand people have families (including children) to feed, but if you're going to be eating that type of food and want to save cash, stop by a fast food joint on the way to the game. Good news: there is a menu that makes every day "$1" something, no promotion necessary! |
