I just got done listening to a between periods interview with DD. The Hamilton broadcasters are highly competent. They're personable, professional and Derek Willis is an NHL caliber announcer. He really brings the game to life.
DD was hurt in a practice collision with teammate Ben Maxwell. He said it's a day-to-day type of injury. The irony is that Maxwell was called up to Montreal shortly after that practice. The Hamilton radio guy inferred that Desharnais would have been the call up had he not been injured. To his credit, DD just laughed. His english has improved dramatically, btw.
Desharnais has 58 points so far this season in 44 games (20g 38a). That matches his entire point total of last season. It took him 77 games to accrue his 58 points (24g 34a).
New Montreal GM Pierre Gauthier was GM in Anaheim for three years when the Ducks had their AHL team in Cincinnati. He made several trips a year to Cincinnati, or I'd run into him on road trips. He had an organizational rule in Anaheim and before that in Ottawa that nobody could wear a number higher than 35. With all the retired numbers he'd have a hard time trying to implement that in Montreal. But, look for that to be the rule in Hamilton for 2010-11. Also got to know Jacques Martin when he was GM in Florida. So, once again, you're wrong!
On another note, agree 100 percent with hrc666's comments about Bulldogs' radio play-by-play man Derek Wills. He's as good as it gets outside the NHL.
Desharnais is listed as day-to-day. Then again, aren't we all?
