Cincinnati's McKenzie Suspended, Fined
March 8, 2010
PRINCETON, N.J. The ECHL announced that Cincinnati forward Ian McKenzie has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #575 at South Carolina on March 5.
McKenzie was assessed a Game Misconduct for boarding at 8:07 of the second period.
McKenzie is suspended and fined under Rule #29 Supplemental Discipline.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Players Hardship Fund.
McKenzie missed Cincinnatis game at South Carolina on March 7.

| This doesn't surprise me. In MY opinion, if I was the coach I would agree to the league's suspension, but then I would do one of two things: either call Milwaukee to have him recalled or bench his butt for a week. |
Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.

It really wasn't that bad. I mean, you know how Ian skates. It seemed a bit late but he's just so big and him shouldering someone equates to their head getting slammed. It was Boarding, but it didn't seem awful. He did break the guy's nose, but like I said, the kid did get his head slammed into the glass. The other guy did play on Sunday, although he did have a brace thing on his nose.
Not sure about anyone else, but I'm getting tired of these boardings with game misconducts attached. LOL |
What you do today can change the course of your life far into the future. Today is critical. Today really counts. |

That guy and his nose were kinda funny, and i think it's ironic that it was ian who caused all the damage. i wouldnt consider him an overly physical player, but his size can make hits look worse than they are and therefore penalties/fines/suspensions are a little more likely.
in addition those majors/suspensions can go especially when you have the league saying "oh ya that should've only been 2 mins..." |
