 Cyclones Have Cashman, Van Guilder Assigned by MIL

CINCINNATI, Ohio The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this afternoon that defenseman Reid Cashman and forward Mark Van Guilder have been assigned by the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL).

Cashman, 26, is in his third professional season and has appeared in 18 games with the Cyclones, netting a goal and 18 assists for 19 points. In 37 regular season games with Milwaukee, Reid had four goals and eight assists for twelve points. He appeared in two Calder Cup playoff games for the Admirals, but did not register any points.

The six-foot-two, 215 pound native of Red Wing, MN, played four seasons at Quinnipiac University, earning four varsity letters and picking up 23 goals and 125 assists for 148 points in 151 games.

Van Guilder, 25, is in his second professional season, having appeared in 28 regular season games with Milwaukee this year. He collected seven assists with the Admirals. Last season, Mark appeared in 65 games with the Cyclones, leading the team with 26 goals and 44 assists for 70 points. Three of his goals were overtime scores. This season, he played 18 games with the Cyclones and notched six goals and added five assists for eleven points. In the Calder Cup playoffs, he played in all seven games for Milwaukeebut did not register a point.

The six-foot-two, 205 pound native of Roseville, MN, played four seasons at Notre Dame, earning four varsity letters and racking up 42 goals and 56 assists for 98 points in 163 games. Van Guilder and current Cyclone Brock Sheahan played for a Fighting Irish squad that advanced to the National Championship game in 2007-08.

Ironically, both players are being returned exactly four weeks after they were both recalled from the club.

In other news, the Cyclones release goaltender Alex Petizian from his amateur tryout agreement. The club has signed Lee Lansdowne as an emergency backup for tonight's game. All three players will be available to play in tonight's game against the Charlotte Checkers.

The Cyclones play at Charlotte tonight at 7pm in the sixth game of the American Conference Semifinals. Cincinnati leads the best of seven affair, three games to two and could advance to the conference finals for the third straight year with a victory. Should a seventh game be needed in the Cyclones' USA Collision Centers semifinals series be necessary, it would be played tomorrow night at 7pm, again on ESPN 1530.
