Seems as though only winning the odd numbered games, like the first two rounds won't work now after Fri's game!
I hope Coach Weber can rework things and the boys come out "smokin" cause now they have to win two in a row somewhere along the line to stay in this race.
A win Sat. will make me feel slightly better. Splitting is better than being down by two, because that would really be difficult to overcome.
We'll be at USBA again tonight, cheering on our Cyclones to "VICTORY"!

I think in the first two rounds the boys dodged a serious bullet with their very poor play on the PP weakness on the PK. With everything else going against them (playing a team with fresh legs and having gone the distance in their two series), that probably is not going to get it in this round.

Even with Reading having got a several players sent to them from their AHL affiliate, I still feel we match up good against them. The Cyclones have to be running low on gas though.

See everyone tonight!

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

I'm not pressing the panic button just yet. Here are my thoughts on game 1 and how we played:
I don't think there is anything special about the Reading Royals. They obviously have guys that can score and seem to have a more than adequate goaltender, but the Checkers or Stingrays they are NOT (thank God we're not playing a team full of goons this time). I don't think our guys looked tired at all and it was really nice finally seeing a very aggressive shots-on-goal tally. But we started getting a bit sloppy in the 2nd period---I saw several "whiffs" at the puck, overskating/losing track of the puck, and there were so many times we had guys out of position in Reading's defensive end by a step or two---just a couple of hairs out of sync. But Reading was doing that more than we were. It's almost like we beat ourselves last night, and Reading simply was successful in taking advantage of some mistakes we made, but I do not liken our effort last night to the game 2s vs. South Carolina & Charlotte, which were absolutely pathetic. I think we need to have the same clamp-down type of defense like we did against Charlotte in the last half of that series, and get it together in Reading's crease area. We are obviously (to me) so much better than these guys and we need to put the brakes on this win one-lose one crap. I'm very confident Chuck will make the necessary adjustments like he always does and our guys will respond.

I think that Reading was obviously the fresher team and IMHO I think what I've highlighted in your post are indicators of some level of mental fatigue...which is totally understandable given the previous two series. But, I fully expect the CLones to be primed & ready to g tonight and come away with the win.

I'm with a few of you, The team arrived back into Cincy at 8am after driving from North Carolina all night, I have heard that most are used to sleeping on the buses but I would have expected soem of the players to be nearly worthless later that day. The team basically woke up on gameday maybe feeling as if they played the night before. I understand this is the playoffs however they are still human. After hearing a comment from a Cyclone family member a couple of days ago about the ECHL, it was decided this year to shorten the season and not have the playoffs go into June. A comment was also made that the team was not at all happy with the aggresive round scheduling in order to accomplish the goal. I would have been in favor of the series starting tonight. Just doesn't seem right, however some would say "just finish off the team earlier in the previous round like Reading did and then we would be resting". I think the team appeared to be drugged, after our first score I think we livened up a bit. Certainly would have liked to win the first game but I don't at all think it's predicting anything. Reading seems almost identical in matchups to us. could have switched jerseys and no one would have known the difference. Physically the guys might have been fine, but mentally? We should see the two teams on equal footing tonight.

One other thing, sometimes I feel it's easier to play being a game down, seems like that allows that team to be more aggresive. We play better more agressive instead of hole-"ing" up into some type of "prevent us from winning" defense made popular by the Bengals.
