Did that game feel like the finals? what the heck? almost as if I was watching a regular season game. maybe it was just me because I didn't catch the whole game on B2. I paid eight bucks for 2 periods of hockey and 1 intermission. Seemed as though the Steelhead fans had taken a bottle of Xanax or something before the game.
Of course the Steelhead fans are busy typing on one board or another about the penalty heard around the world. |

Impressive game. The Cyclones came out fast and Im-A-Hoe responded back nice with two of there own. But then, the Chuckinator took over. Play defense, be patient, and wait for your opportunities.
Now granted I can't hear much through the B2 feed, but that crowd was about as loud as a graveyard. Im-A-Hoe will hear some REAL hockey fans next week.

Bench your leading scorer for four games then put him back in on the top line and he assists on the winning goal. Wish they were playing Las Vegas. Would love to follow Chuck to the tables!!
During the pre game chat with Hammer, Chuck went through their travel itinerary from yesterday. Phone rang and didnt catch it all. Thought he said they left for Dayton at 3:30 AM for a 6AM flight and didnt get to their hotel until 10PM. Can anyone validate that and add to it as to what cities they went through etc. As of tomorrow they would have played six games in eight days along with a long bus ride from Reading and yesterdays travel to Boise. They will sleep well tonight I trust. |

| I believe they flew to Colorado then to Boise Idaho landing in Idaho at 10am. Chuck was on the phone on 700wlw at around 645-7 THursday night. I think getting to the hotel at 10pm was not correct. |

and now a different perspective. my youngest daughter turned the power strip off thus crashing my computer and ended my B2 feed for several minutes, I emailed B2 because I didn't get a confirmation or transaction ID and when I got a reply and a new link, it linked me up to the Steelheads broadcast. Now if the Clones were beat in the last 1 minute in a game on the penalty kill I'm not certain I could control myself HOWEVER the Steelheads announcer spent a great deal of time explaining why that was indeed the right call. The person doing color, i suspect was a former or current IR player also said that any ref in any league would have made that call. How many times have we been on the short end of those calls....to many to count. lastly Idaho's hit to Del monte without a call was exactly, I mean almost a carbon copy of Mckenzie's hit. Like someone did a photoshop edit and changed the jersey colors. somebeach's link has both hits. |

A very important win. We seemed (as best as one can tell from a B2 production ) to be skating as well as Idaho was. I still can't help but think that the guys are going to hit the fatigue wall pretty soon. Game 6 in 8 days with all the travel has got to finally take its toll. But these are the 2010 Cyclones. Logic does not apply. Magic does.
Heidinger will likely be back in for game two since Ian (I still can't figure out that I've got to keep my elbows and stick down because I'm 6'5") McKenzie will probably be suspended for Saturday's game.
I would have been thrilled with a split in Boise. Now I'm going to get greedy and not be satisfied with less than a sweep. Beauchemin isn't the best goalie that Idaho has and it would be nice to take full advantage of this because we probably won't get to face him again when the series comes to USBA.
12 down and 3 to go. Way to go Clones!!

| If McKenzie gets suspended for his hit then Lampl should be for his hit on Del Monte. They were basically identical except that Del Monte had his back turned pretty much the whole time whereas Flichel turned his back just as McKenzie was going to hit him. Absolute bs that Lampl wasnt given a 5 minute penalty. |

| The only difference I could see was that Flichel came up with a huge gash on his face and Del Monte didn't. The hits were exactly the same otherwise. |

Just to add to comments about Mackenzi/Del Monte situations, I didn't catch it live, but from watching the highlights, I thought #13 could have been called for boarding Roeder as well.
It doesn't bother me that Herbert didn't call them for boarding, but I really hate it when you have 3 very similar plays on only one penalty gets called. Oh well, that's life in the E....

| Yea I dont really care if the ref calls a penalty or not but be consistent. I wasnt even mad that Lampl didnt get called for hitting Del Monte. It was ridiculous when McKenzie got called for the same thing though. I was yelling at my tv screen, lol. If one hit isnt a penalty then none should be. All hits from behind are supposed to be called, no matter how good or bad the hit looks. From reading articles in the newspapers it sounds like Idaho's coach is joining the Idaho fans in crying about penalties. |

I have no use for coaches chirping about poor officials, it dishonors the players and is unfortunatly part of the game when you have human beings making subjective split second decisions about what they see. In retrospect, if hebert was to watch game video today of either hit, he might have said, " yea, maybe the hit wasn't that bad" or he might have said the Hit on Del Monte was bad and I missed the call. Several Reading folks commented on the league wanting the Cyclones in the Finals so they refs were bought off. It really cheapens what reading was able to accomplish.
As for tonight, I'm agains trying to stay unbiased here, but the Steelheads appeared the drowsy ones. I would suspect that the Clones have slept in today and will be fine. I think that rest and breaks during the playoffs is over rated. just ask college number 1s waiting months for bowl games. We should be fine. I also feel that Mckenzie's hit should not be suspension worthy. Game misconduct, depends on who you ask, but suspensions after the precedent that was set in reading with the line brawl. |
