Great article on Cedrick, Susan.
The Canadiens just traded one of their goalies and it's going to be interesting to see how this impacts Desjardins' career.
http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nhl/news/story?id=5298330
It was known that the Canadiens couldn't keep both Price and Halak. They've made their choice (Price) as to whom their #1 goalie will be for years to come.
Now they must come to a decision for his back up. Will it be Cedrick, Sanford or will the organization choose to sign another veteran? There could be draft implications as well.
Good luck, Cedrick! |

| Desjardins won't be the backup in Montreal in 2010-11. The Canadiens will sign a proven NHL goaltender for that role such as Biron or the former Cincinnati Mighty Duck Mason. |

| As much as it pains me, I agree with Donnie. No one is going to have two goalies that young and Price plays hot and cold. They will find a veteran and I don't think Sanford is the answer. With Price #1 it might be better for Cedrick to move on to another organization that will look to him in 2-3 years perhaps |

I don't recall this being posted here. Desjardins was named to the AHL's second All Star team. His 2.00 goals against average was the lowest AHL average for goaltenders who played the minimum amount of minutes since AT LEAST 2005-06.
quote: 2009-10 AHL Second All-Star Team Cedrick Desdjardins, Goaltender (Hamilton Bulldogs): Cedrick Desjardins has rolled to a 26-8-3 mark in 42 appearances for Hamilton and currently leads all AHL netminders in goals-against average (1.93) while ranking fourth in save percentage (.923) and second in shutouts (6). The Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month for December and the winning goaltender in the 2010 AHL All-Star Game, Desjardins reeled off nine straight victories from Nov. 28 to Dec. 31, a stretch that included four shutouts in a five-game span. A 24-year-old native of Edmundston, N.B., Desjardins has helped Hamilton surrender a league-low 165 goals through 74 games.

Desjardins stats were impressive on paper but the reality is he wasn't as good as the statistics would indicate. He benefitted from the system Hamilton employed. Desjardins and Sanford didn't face as many quality scoring chances against per game that goalies on other teams in the league faced. The Canadiens know this which is why they're not really all that excited about Desjardins as a legitimate NHL prospect and why they'll be signing someone like Martin Biron, Chris Mason or Michael Leighton to back up Carey Price, and another goalie with some NHL experience to serve as the organization's third goalie in Hamilton. |

And how many games did you watch Desjardins play?
Give it a rest. You have no idea who Montreal is considering signing-beyond whatever you read. Scan your phone bill and post the date/time/number details of whatever conversations you've had with Montreal brass on it to prove otherwise. lol.
A gaa of 2even is an outstanding accomplishment regardless of the effectiveness of a defensive system. The fact that Desjardins stats were better than NHL veteran Sanford's speaks volumes.
In fact, had Boucher gone with Desjardins instead of Sanford, then the Bulldogs probably would have had a chance to play in the Calder Cup finals. NHL veteran Sanford's play in game 7 of the Conference Finals was putrid. Cedrick would have gotten the job done-as he always does in the clutch. |

And when Montreal does what I stated they'll do it will be time for you to give it a rest.

Canadiens just traded with Nashville for Dan Ellis. Not sure where that leaves Cedrick although my understanding is that Corey Price hasn't signed as yet and is in some personal legal problems in Montreal. Unless there are problems that leaves Cedrick out in Montreal.
another aspect of this is that this leaves a job open in Nashville and in turn perhaps in Milwaukee. Had thought Smith/Mayer might both be back but this could open up a spot in Milwaukee for Jeremy. With Ellis and Price in Montreal I doubt they will resign Sanford leaving perhaps Cedrick and Robert sharing the net in Hamilton. Wish both of them good luck but hope at least one of the co-playoff MVPs is back next year as I would hate to start again with two new untested young goalies. Worked this year but a disaster the year before. |

| My mistake. Montreal traded for the rights to Dan Ellis and as he didn't sign by noon today he is a free agent. Blogs say he wont sign with them. That leaves Montreal still looking and an opening in Nashville. |

From today's free agency signings:
"The Montreal Canadiens have signed veteran goalie Alex Auld to back up Carey Price.
Auld split last season between the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers, going 9-6-3 with the Stars and 0-1-0 with the Rangers."
