New head coach of Trenton: Kevin Dean http://www.trentonian.com/articles/2010/08/12/sports/doc4c64a203122e6309636419.txt Kevin Dean has been through this before.
As a player, Dean started his professional career in the American Hockey League before being sent down to the ECHL to improve his game.
But after a 30 game stint with the Cincinnati Cyclones during the 1991-92 season, the defensive-first defenseman made it back to the highest level of hockeys minor league system and never looked back after a seven-year NHL career that culminated with winning a Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils in 1995.
Following his retirement Dean became a coach and joined the Devils AHL coaching staff in Lowell, where hed been an assistant for the past four seasons. But with Rick Kowalsky promoted to the head coach
position with the now-Albany Devils after four seasons at the helm in Trenton, a position was open in the capital city.
While Dean, now 41 years old, was interested in the Albany job, he jumped at the chance to take his first head coaching job, albeit not in the AHL, and make his return to the ECHL after an 18-year absence.
