GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors, ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that they have traded for center Mark Voakes; acquiring him from the Bakersfield Condors in exchange for future considerations.

"Mark Voakes is a dynamic offensive minded hockey player. His dedication to hard work on and off the ice will be an excellent addition to the Greenville Road Warriors," said Head Coach Dean Stork.

Voakes, 26, is entering his second season of pro hockey, and the trade reunites him with Stork who was an assistant coach in Cincinnati where the rookie began his pro career last season. In 24 games with the Cyclones Voakes recorded 15 points (8G, 7A) and twenty penalty minutes. He was traded, along with another player, on March 9, 2010 to Bakersfield in exchange for Mathieu Aubin and went on to pick up six points with the Condors (3G, 3A) in nine regular season games. In eight Kelly Cup Playoff games Voakes averaged a point per game with three goals and five assists, which is a record for a Condors rookie in the playoffs.

---------

Voakes was explosive prior to his injury last season. It was hard to be disappointed in Weber's trade for Aubin, but now that he's back on our side of the country... not exactly a player I'd want to be facing.

I just hope that with the home games against the Road Warriors that the Warriors don't feel more like a Cincinnati team (with Stork & Voakes so far).

"What daring! What outrageousness! What insolence! What arrogance!... I salute you. "

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Stork tries to acquire a bunch of former cyclones players he knows. I would hope most of them would be loyal to Cincinnati if they don't get an AHL offer, but never know.
