GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Greenville Road Warriors, ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that they have traded defenseman David Schulz to the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for goalie Dov Grumet-Morris.
In joining the Road Warriors, Grumet-Morris returns to North America after two seasons in Europe. The 28-year-old netminder played 91 games in Austria between HK Jesenice and Graz EC from 2008 to 2010. Prior to the start of the 2009-10 season, Grumet-Morris signed in the ECHL with Utah before deciding to return to Austria. The Grizzlies protected his rights which allowed for the trade with the Road Warriors to be completed.
In the 2002 NHL Entry Draft Grumet-Morris was taken in the fifth round (# 161 overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers. The Evanston, Illinois native won a Central Hockey League championship as a rookie with Laredo in 2005-06, and earned an 18-5-2 record during the regular season. The 6-2, 200-pound goaltender spent the next two seasons splitting time between the American Hockey League and ECHL. He earned a 31-11-4 record in his time with the Cincinnati Cyclones, including a 20-3-1 mark for the 2007-08 Cyclones squad that captured the ECHL's Kelly Cup. Grumet-Morris recorded four shutouts in the AHL during the 2006-07 season skating for Portland, Hamilton, and Manitoba. He added nine games with the Milwaukee Admirals in 2007-08 and won four of them.
