Gee I just throw away money for two season passes for my wife and I because I'm not a hockey fan. I buy jerseys and t-shirts and even stuffed animals with sweaters saying Cyclones because I am not a hockey fan. Okay if that sounded totally stupid, your right. I've been following the Clones since year two and have missed maybe 30 games total after year one. If you want to pay $20 bucks for tickets and $5 for a pop, just keep your mouth shut and the owners will give those prices to you. Me, I want minor league prices for a Double AA level team and Double AA level prices for food and drinks. If you think Columbus Blue Jacket hockey is that much superior to what we have, go ahead and pay their prices and keep them going. I choose to support a lower level at a lower price. By the way, I have no problem with your opinion but I don't understand how people can say this is not a hockey town. If I'm not mistaken, the Red's were heading to the playoffs with a MAJOR LEAGUE TEAM and still not selling out. I guess this isn't a baseball town either.
Good, you understand what you have here. You should also understand that you are seeing quality hockey for $14 each. Good seats too.
We used to pay more than that to watch the SPHL Columbus (Georgia) Cottonmouths. Those are guys that would LOVE a shot at an ECHL contract. The beers... Yep. $7.
And you guys dont really think that complaining on a web board will lower food and drink prices. Right? I mean, you realize thats not even the team management doing that. Right?
Look, It's simple. We have it MADE in many ways. I'd MUCH MUCH rather pay $14 and $5 parking to watch the 'clones from row L on the blue line than $50 and $15 parking to watch the Thrasher lose (again) from the rafters. And when the beer is $7, I don't drink one. When the hot dogs are $5, I eat before I get to the arena.
When they lowered ticket prices to $10 I was afraid people might get spoiled and complain when they inevitably went back up (and OF COURSE they weren't going to stay $10 forever. NO WAY). Unfortunately I think I was right. I wish I'd been wrong.
Maybe its the cost I've had to pay for the quality hockey I've seen before I lived here that colors my views, but trust me, you guys HAVE IT MADE in terms of what you pay for your hockey product. Stop complaining and enjoy it!!!
Scott, who will have KFC for dinner and a couple of $2 beers tomorrow and hopefully see a great hockey game with a $13 ticket. I see nothing to complain about. Unless of course they come out again with sweaters with a big red ribbon around the waist. I'd rather them stay in pink. ;)

Thanks for your reply in many ways. You got used to the higher prices for minor league hockey, so our prices being cheaper is a blessing for you. I'm sure management does not follow our posts directly, but my guess is at least one does look in to see what is bothering us or pleasing us ! If the Cyclones had not lowered tickets to $10 years back, maybe the Cyclones would be like Wheeling and playing partial schedules in other towns. Tonight and Wednesday will show why we still need a $10 weekday ticket. Why not put the ends at $10 and help the families out. I have our 2 -24 ounce bottles of water for tonight and this really makes me happy. Saving $10 each game not buying drinks really adds up over the season length. Typical night for us: parking $5,three drinks $11.25 and large popcorn $4. Total $20.25. Now this will be $9. Multiply that by the season and it's a big chunk. Steven and Jean Bagel Section 126 Row R seats 1 & 2 (or a few rows back in the good seats ) Look for me in the "old style" jersey ! |

| Bags - where do you park for $5? I can never get there early enough to get free parking at the landing, and dont like paying $10 directly underneath US Bank/GABP. |

I believe the lot across from Fat Cats is still $5. If you don't mind walking a little further, Sawyer Point is a good option; it's only $2. |

Thank you bags! I too am a two seat season ticket holder and we dont go to most games as earlier stated, we go to all games!! Thats for the second year in a row.
I guess I'm not a regular "hockey fan" either. Maybe someday I will be a true fan, if I can figure out what the standard to be one is!
I din't mean to start a message board war by my one sentence line that indicated that the increases might backfire. I was suggesting that if the trend continues, it may well effect attendance in the future.
Unless of course it was my "lets make some noise up in here" comment that ruffled the feathers! lol
See ya tonight, probably in the concession and merchandise line!
Go Cyclones, turn it around starting tonight!

No problem Bryan (bhf303), this thread helped me find out about the allowance of one water and others now are finding out about the parking at Fat Cats and also Sawyer Point. I have no problems with Scott now that I understand some of his more expensive past hockey. In my book, if you come to the games you can or follow the team in the paper (LAUGH HERE) or follow on the web, this makes you a hockey fan. |

Across from fat cats is still $5. We park there unless its REALLY cold, then we spend the extra $5 to park in the deck. We never seem to get there early enough for the public landing.
I agree on possibly making the end tickets $10. But maybe there is a reason they can't. Remember, they are already the cheapest tickets in the league and even cheaper than some of the lesser league teams. Given that some nights there are less than 1000 people in the building, maybe they simply can't drop prices without losing their ass financially. It's a double edged sword... MAYBE if you lower prices during the week you get more people through the gate, but if you don't... You're screwed. Honestly I would NOT lower weekday tickets if it were my call. Over the past few years the Tues/Wed attendance has been consistently low regardless of if the tickets were $10 or $14. I think you have the hard core fans on those nights and that's it. Casual walk-up is negligable at best.
I do however think that a $10 upper level ticket might get some more people in on the weekends. Maybe. But there is a benefit of having all tickets the same price and getting everyone in the lower sections when the building is only half full. Makes for a much better atmosphere than having those people spread out everywhere.

I think it's funny how everyone is complaining about the prices. Are any of the ones complaining also the same one's that buy the auctioned jersey's for $400-$800? Why do people feel obligated to eat every time at the game? I know if I ate and drank pop/beer at full price all the time, I would be broke. Also, there is $5 parking right near the Reds stadium and US Bank right off the second street exit though it can be difficult to get in if you get off there, but it's close and use escalators at the Red's garage.

| We have a family of 4 and season tickets. My kids know that they do not get a full meal everytime we go. They bring their water (we've known this for 3 years) and they eat before we go. Dollar nights are the exception and they know it. We do eat every so often if our schedule makes it a must. The cheeseburger and fry basket used to be $6 and was our dinner of choice. |

I actually HATE pepsi and Diet Pepso so RC & Diet Rite is a HUGE step up for me.
but enough about soda wars and price of concessions. What the heck happened there? It was a really exciting game through the first two just to completely implode in the third. I was thinking to myself that this is the largest opening night crowd I can remember since the real early days. if they keep this game exciting and maybe pull off a win maybe that will will bode well for overall season attendence numbers. But the way they imploded and watching the mass exodus during the third period, I wonder how many of those "part time fans" will be back until we are guaranteed a playoff spot.
This is a major fair weather city - bottom line. The team doesn't win the fans don't go. it's just that simple. Hopefully the coaching staff sorts this out and finds the winning side of the scoresheet sooner rather than later.
And now for something more fun. Did anybody notice Eghoetz as they were raising the banner? You could tell he was really soaking it all in. |

There is a $5.00 lot to the left of the GABP entrance. I'm probably not describing the location very well. If you get there, you can walk right to the escalators that take you to GABP left field essentially. On the weekend games it fills pretty quickly, but weekday games you can usually park there.
Man I hope they get a win tonight!! Tonight is the perfect night to turn things around!! |

So, Toledo's tickets are $15. Ours are $14.
What promotions did Toledo offer to get 6000 people in the building tonight (a Wednesday)? We had $1 beer and had 1300.
We do well to get 6000 on a Saturday with no football or baseball in town.

| Catch22 -- Toledo's Wednesday game was their hockey day in education. The game was at 10am and full of field trip kids. Also I thought our tickets are $13. |
