Cyclones Win Fifth Straight Game by Beating Toledo, 2-1

TOLEDO, Ohio - Barret Ehgoetz and Scott Reynolds each scored for the Cincinnati Cyclones (6-5-2-1) as they pick up their consecutive win by besting the Toledo Walleye (4-6-1-1) by a 2-1 score in front of 4,518 at Huntington Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Cyclones once again jumped out to a lead on their opposition, when Barret Ehgoetz deflected home a Benn Olson point shot for his third goal of the season and a 1-0 Cincinnati lead at the 18:06 mark of the opening frame.

Cincinnati extended their advantage midway through the second period as Scott Reynolds took a beautiful pass from Ehgoetz and wristed home his third of the season past Toledo netminder Joe Palmer (L, 18 saves, 0-2-0), making it 2-0 Cyclones. Toledo was able to answer with a goal of its own just a few minutes later, at 14:04, as Kyle Rogers swatted home a loose puck underneath Cyclones goalie Chet Pickard (W, 31 saves, 1-3-0) for his third tally of the season, pulling the Walleye within one.

In the third period, the Walleye frantically tried to score the equalizer sending in 17 shots onto Pickard in the final frame. However, the Cyclones netminder stood tall, including a tremendous save through a screen in the final seconds to help give his team a 2-1 victory. It was Pickards first "W" of the season.

The Cyclones Radio Network Three Stars of the Game are as follows:
1. Barret Ehgoetz (1 goal, 1 assist)
2. Scott Reynolds (Game winning goal)
3. Kyle Rogers (Lone Toledo goal)

I think everyone on this site would give the first star of the game
to Chet Pickard ! Wow to get that 300 pound gorilla off his back has
got to be the greatest feeling. Let's hope he can keep this going and
give us two goalies to work with. Great to see Barret also have a big
game. See you all that can make it on Tuesday.
