The Amerks simply aren't a very good team. They lack scoring-among other things.
The fans who seriously follow the Amerks have been aware of this all season. The general consensus has been that the team has gotten poor support from their parent club (Florida Panthers) and that this season is probably a lost one given that Rochester has already announced that it is opting out of its affiliation agreement with Florida effective at the end of this season.
Weber gets high marks from most all of the people who appear to know and follow Amerks hockey. Here is a pretty typical thread about this season:

So, pay no attention to this board's village idiot (dh). Per usual, he knows not of what he speaks. Jim really should ban him permanently as his pathological destructive nature has been shown repeatedly and will not change.
Weber's predicament is known by all knowledgeable hockey people. He is not responsible for recruiting as he was here in Cincinnati and he must work with what has been given him-which hasn't been too good. His future as a hockey coach is still very bright. It should be noted that Weber stands a very good chance of not being back in Rochester due to the affiliation change. |

Really, Captain Obvious? There is no need to act as Weber's defense attorney. Everyone knows he's a terrific coach.
Since the NHL team calls the shots on who the head coach of their AHL farm club is, the only way he's back in Rochester is if the Amerks new NHL parent club has an interest in hiring him.
It should be noted that at no time did I state Weber was not a good coach, or that his future as a coach wasn't bright. I merely mentioned the team was struggling. And it is.
Weber will not be judged by wins and losses by Florida or other NHL organizations as a coch in the American Hockey League. He will be judged on whether or not his team is prepared to play each night and how players develop under his watch.
Case in point is Scott Gordon, recently let go by the New York Islanders. He has a terrible record in his two-plus years behind the Islanders bench but what other organizations remember is the job he did the five seasons he coached Boston's AHL team in Providence. They were always prepared to play, even when overmatched. He will land another NHL job, and Weber, if Florida doesn't retain him, will get another AHL job. The only way I see Florida not retaining him is if they're forced to share an AHL team with another NHL organization (Carolina and Colorado would be open to a dual affiliation).

Your motivations are pitiful.
You are a cancer to this board.
Period.
You should be eliminated as all cancers should be. |

Well Joe in the typical Coach Weber tradition, he is not just sitting there without making changes. Also in the Weber tradition, he may have borrowed Pierce but at least now he is sending us some bodies for playing time. Also another plus is he just nabbed a Wheeling player so that also helps us .
