Went to the Jackets-Rangers game this past Saturday with my dad. He and I were talking about hockey uniforms. He, being originally from NYC, is a huge Rangers fan. He was complaining about how teams apparently don't wear white at home anymore noting that how when he was growing up, the Rangers wore white at home and were now wearing it on the road. The Jackets were sporting their blue sweaters.
I pointed out to him that the Cyclones wear white at home except when donning the black sweaters with the diagonal "Cincinnati" front (which are awesome) and special jerseys.
These days every team in the NHL dons white on the road, but I've noticed the clones, Ft. Wayne Komets and Dayton Gems seem to wear white at home.
Is it just me or does it seem that a lot of the minor league teams still do the white jerseys at home? And anyone know when the NHL switched to white on the road? |

I think during previous seasons, they wore white at home until the all-star break, at which point they switched to their red or black jerseys.
I'm guessing that will again be the case this season. |

| The not wearing white at home doesn't really bother me. I'm just glad to see teams going more retro with the colorful uni's. I hated it years ago when everything was just simply black or white. So boring. |

According to the ECHL FAQ at http://www.echl.com/faq-s-s12377:
ECHL teams will wear their white jerseys from Oct. 15, 2010 to Jan. 23, 2011 and their dark jerseys from Jan. 28-Apr. 2, 2011. For the playoffs, teams will return to wearing their regular jerseys (home-white, road-dark). |

The NHL's switch to colors at home was apparently to increase sales of the colored jerseys, which lagged well behind the whites.
I like the way the ECHL does it, switching after the All-Star break. |

| I wish they would stay with Red jerseys at the home games during the playoffs. But it isn't that big of a deal to me. I think the red jerseys stand out much more to people who don't regularly watch the Cyclones ... and I think the white jerseys are boring haha |

| Prior to expansion in 1967, NHL teams in the Original Six years usually wore their dark sweaters at home and whites on the road. |

| I like the fact they swap midway, but I like the white at home and color on the road. Otherwise every game would be Red (cyclones) versus White. Nice to see the various designs/color schemes of the other teams. |
