CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that defenseman Adam Comrie has been assigned by the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. In an unrelated transaction, the Cyclones have also added Erik Bentley as an emergency backup goaltender.
Comrie joins Cyclones after starting his rookie campaign this year with the Rochester Americans. During his time in the AHL, the third-round selection from 2008 has posted three assists in 17 games. Prior to going pro, he played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) most recently with the Guelph Storm in 2009-10. In 68 games last year, Comrie posted 40 points (14 goals, 26 assists).
Bentley, a 25-year-old Margate, Florida resident will serve as the Cyclones emergency backup goaltender during their stay in the sunshine state. He has spent the last two summers as an unsigned backup during Florida Panthers camp. He played collegiately at Florida Atlantic University (ACHA).
Comrie and Bentley will join the rest of the Cyclones in Estero, Florida for a three-game series against the Everblades beginning tomorrow night at 7:30pm.
The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return to U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday, January 12 when they welcome in the Kalamazoo Wings for a 7:30pm face-off.
