As I have been very negative on this blog about this team/coaches and their chances, I have to swallow hard ( but happily) about the tremendous effort in Florida. Chuck Weber said last year after the Reading series miracle that the best thing that happened to the team was to have that long period of time in Reading with a few days off as they really came together as a team. Same thing might be said about this long trip to Florida. Congratulations to this team.

Lets hope this is the kick start they need. The next six games are against either K-Zoo or Wheeling and 16 of the next 20 games are at home!!!! They end the season with a similar type of out of balance schedule on the road, so now is the time to make a move and put some space between ourselves and some other teams. Although they have a much better road record thus far, I am looking forward to seeing the "New Cyclones" this Wednesday vs K-Zoo

By the way, crow tastes best fried with lots of beer

Pssst.. a message board isn't a blog.

It's nice to see a sweep, heard the game was pretty exciting at the end.

Don't fry the bird yet.

Florida is a quality team, and it was on the road, but don't forget that this was 3 wins against the same team in 4 nights. Maybe they had some call-ups/injuries (they played 2 short the first game). Maybe they had 3 bad games. Maybe we just matchup really well with THEM.

Or... Maybe the corner has been turned and the right buttons pushed.

It's an exciting result and we're VERY happy, but it's going to take more than that to quell my skepticism. I'd REALLY like to actually see them play a good game at home for starters.

One thing is for sure, 82 shots on goal in two nights is a massive change for this team this year. That's been about 3.5 games worth so far.
Fingers crossed that they keep it up, but the last time I saw them they were losing ugly to Toledo at home.

Is there any chance that the system was changed or tweaked to fit the personnel?

A much needed sweeep.

This team had a 6-0-4 stretch earlier in the season. It's not an awful team.

It's good to see Pierce step up and have a multi-goal game. This team needs him to get it going to be a successful team. It's good to see the offense generate the shots that they did the past two games. It's also good to see that the team showed resilience in coming back and getting the extra point after blowing a 4-2 and a 5-4 lead.

I listened to the webcast of the third period and OT/SO and thought that Benn Olson did a great job as color man.

I will hold off my "crow dinner" until I see TWO home regulation
wins in a row. I can't remember what a home win looks like. Maybe
we should make the team use the "visitor" locker room so they feel
more comfortable !
On a positive side, we stayed in the chase during our struggles and
now is the time to turn this around and play as a team.

I learned my lesson after the Reading playoff series last season.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I'd much rather see Olson doing a great job of beating someone senseless. Was any info given on his expected return?

It's awesome that O'Hanley got a Gordie Howe last night, but lets be honest and admit that we really don't EVER need one of our best Dmen sitting in the box for 5 minutes.

I'm watching the VOD replay now. Fukala must be the new Sgroi after that hissyfit in the 2nd. He was throwing punches at everyone he could see, looks like he might've even made contact with one of his own.

Edit: Fukala threw his glove into the face of (who appeared to be) Sheahan. Would've been nice to have Benn on the ice for that one.

There's no definite return date set, but Olson suggested that he'd be back pretty soon.

"The Gordie Howe Hat Trick" (one goal, one assist, one fight) may not be appropriately named if what I've read is true. I read where Howe only had one of his so-called hat tricks.

It's a "Feared player who can score AND fight" attitude thing more than something of any actual historical significance. I'm sure there are plenty of players that have done it multiple times. Iginla is a likely candidate.

Al Secord once had 40 goals and over 300 PIMs in a season. So I suppose you could call it a "Secord Hat Trick" if you wanted.

I think Gordie Howe's name just stuck a long time ago.
