CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have acquired forward Paul McIlveen from the Greenville Road Warriors in exchange for the ECHL rights to forward Chris Clackson. In an unrelated transaction, the Rochester Americans have recalled goaltender Marc Cheverie to the American Hockey League.

McIlveen, a fourth-year pro, joins the Cyclones after skating this season with the Greenville Road Warriors. With Dean Stork's club, the Waterloo, Ontario native has registered 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists) in 37 games with 24 penalty minutes. In 205 games as a professional, McIlveen has potted 51 goals and added 72 helpers to go along with 168 penalty minutes. He also spent a pair of seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, where he collected 128 points (52 goals, 76 assists) in 116 games.

Clackson played in 27 games for the Cyclones this year, amassing 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) and 57 penalty minutes. The rookie forward also saw 16 games with the Rochester Americans earlier this season, where he posted four points (2 goals, 2 assists) and 27 penalty minutes.

Cheverie, a seventh-round selection of the Florida Panthers in 2006, has posted some impressive numbers during his rookie season. He is tied for the ECHL lead with three shutouts this year and has had a trio of games where he's made 40 saves or more. This season, he has earned a 13-9-5 record with a 3.11 goals-against average and an 89.6% save percentage. During the month of November, he went 6-0-2 in November with a 2.59 GAA and a 94.9 save percentage, finishing runner-up for ECHL Goalie of the Month.

Prior to going pro, the 23-year-old Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native was a two-year starter at the University of Denver, where he posted a career 2.22 goals-against average and finished with a 47-18-8 record. Last season, he was a Hobey Baker Top-10 Finalist and was named the INCH Goalie of the Year.

The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return to U.S. Bank Arena this Wednesday, February 9, when they reunite with the Florida Everblades at 7:30pm. It will be another Wet Wednesday with $1 PBR and Miller High Life flowing all night long. Discounted ticket packages and single game tickets for the 2010-2011 season are available now. Guess the Rochester coach figured Clackson was better off learning under the Greenville coach. Can't seem to remember their names though!!

I'm guessing that Clackson is the future considerations from Chris being traded.

Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.

Anyone for Clackson is a good deal.

Good Riddance.

Most of the futuer considerations are cash deals or player rights dealt after the season. It does happen but it's not common for players to get dealt mid season to complete the futures aspect of a trade.

I'm told that there is only one trade on the board that still has to be completed and that's the futures owed to Utah as a result of the Motherwell for Hunter deal.
