CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that goaltender Brian Foster has been assigned by the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Foster, a 2005 fifth-round draft choice of the Florida Panthers joins the Cyclones after starting his professional career with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in the Central Hockey League. This season with the Mudbugs, the Pembroke, New Hampshire native has earned a 9-9-1 record with a 3.20 goals-against average and an 88.4 save percentage.

Prior to going pro, he was a four-year letter-winner at the University of New Hampshire where posted a career 40-29-13 record with a 2.82 goals-against average in 86 career games. Foster was one of just four seniors on last year's UNH team that captured Hockey East's regular season championship. He was named First Team Hockey East and Second Team East All-American in his senior season after stopping a career-high 1128 saves in 38 games played.

The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return to U.S. Bank Arena this Wednesday, February 16 when play host to the Toledo Walleye at 7:30pm. It will be another Wet Wednesday with $1 PBR and Miller High Life flowing all night long. Discounted ticket packages and single game tickets for the 2010-2011 season are available now. For more information, call 513.421.PUCK (7825) or visit CyclonesHockey.com.

Not a puck stopping machine by any means, but we had to get someone to help out Pickard since Chevy probably won't be back. Then also this smells like Chucks doing all over and everyone knows he could find a hockey player on an uncharted island.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

Oh well. 9-9-1 and 3.20/.884 stats in the CHL. What they don't say is he started the year
7-1 with a 2.15 GAA. so you can see what it has been like since--close to a 4 GAA. Panthers had a choice at the beginning of the year to send he or Chevie here. Now we get the 2nd choice. Would have loved to have seen a veteran signed directly by the Clones but not sure who would have been available. Hopefully he had an awful defense in front of him in Mudbugs land ( whatever the hell they are!!) and he will shine here.

We all wish we could sign a player like Ryan Nie who if healthy and stays in the ECHL without PTO's in the A is a given 20-25 wins a year by himself which in this league is good, but we will be forever dependent on affiliate goaltending for the near future. A 7-1 start is really good, one has to wonder how the Bugs looked on D (injuries, communication) and how many goals were given up based on poor D in general. A goalie might always say he gave them up, but sometimes if he had better D some could be saved, look at Cody Rudkowsky, and for that matter Shane Connelly last year bad, horrible numbers with Johnstown, decent, pretty good numbers with South Carolina. Sometimes it is the team.

08, 10 Kelly Cup Champions
08, 10, 14 American Conference Champions
08, 09, 13 North Division Champions
08 Brabham Cup Champions

His college numbers look good, so lets hope the CHL numbers are largely due to bad D in front of him. We'll find out soon enough.

Nevertheless this is a pretty good indicator that we won't see Chevy again. At least not until Rochester's season is done.

PS - I'm not sure what the Ohio Valley lingo would be, but from where I'm from Mudbugs are called Crawdads. Also known as Crayfish and Crawfish. Also known as little lobsters that live in streams and lakes.

Yes, I grew up playing hockey... In Alabama.

There needs to be a CHL franchise in Lawrence,KS called the Lawrence Little Lobsters. That would rule.

He's a steady tender, nothing real flashy. What I remember most about him tho was a chant I heard when I caught a BU/UNH game in Boston - "Foster, Australian for queer" lol

The Mudbugs are among one of the best team names ever.

But the all time, never to be defeated winner is the old team from Macon, Georgia.
The Whoopie.

Yes... Macon Whoopie.
