CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Toledo Walleye (27-27-3-1) buried three unanswered goals in the third period en route to a 5-2 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones (25-24-6-3) in front of 6,918 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night. It was the third-largest home crowd of the 2010-11 regular season.
Toledo drew first blood when Mike Hedden slammed in a power play goal at the 3:18 mark, giving the Walleye an early 1-0 lead. Walleye rookie Anthony Iaquinto then followed with his first ECHL goal, as he wristed a shot past Cincinnati netminder Brian Foster (L, 22 saves, 3-3-0) to push his team ahead by a pair. Cincinnati answered back with just over 30 seconds left in the frame as T.J. Fast dangled through the slot and backhanded a shot past Toledo goalie Thomas McCollum (W, 41 saves, 6-5-0) to cut the deficit in half heading into the first intermission.
Not even midway through the second period, Cincinnati's power play was given a chance to work and work they did. Dustin Sproat hit Samson Mahbod with a tape-to-tape pass and he blasted home his second goal in as many nights to knot the score at two. Despite several more outstanding chances for the Cyclones in the middle frame, the teams stayed tied through 40 minutes.
Toledo broke the deadlock just 6:20 into the third when Chris DiDomenico snuck into the slot and buried his seventh goal of the season. Just over a minute later, at 7:30, Sebastian Piche earned a goal of his own to put the Walleye ahead by a 4-2 count. In the final minutes, the Cyclones pulled Foster in hopes of tying the game; unfortunately, though, Hedden fought for a loose puck at center ice and hit the empty net to seal a 5-2 victory.

Cincinnati will wrap up a busy week with a Sunday matinee against the Kalamazoo Wings. They'll drop the puck at Wings Stadium at 4:00pm with pregame coverage beginning on the Cyclones Radio Network at 3:45pm.
The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return to U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, March 25 when they host the Toledo Walleye at 7:30pm.
