You know what i find Pathetic....
when there is a loss good or bad the response is great but there is very little response to a win and a BIG win at that...

Home game VS away game. People are going to have more to say about what they see, than what they read. I don't think there's a lack of excitement about the away win, it just tends to come through in quick blurbs through social media. Some people might get off looking at game and stats sheets, but I always hated math class. That's the difference between a home game and an away game at this level, with little to no broadcast support.

| I am happy to see the Cyclones respond.... much better effort yesterday in the road game. I may be away from Cincinnati 95% of the time but I am always on the watch... Saturday sucked, blew, and rotted, but Sunday's effort was so much better... and it looks like all we need to do is win Wednesday morning and its playoff time... we just really need to cool it with the halfass crap we seem to be doing and get things going... its not too late... remember last year???? |

The Cyclones are 15-20 at home this year. I don't care about OT and SO losses at home. They are home losses. Period.
The team has won more games on the road than at home, had most of their best performances on the road, and laid down some real stinkfests at home this year. I think I've seen them play one good first period in person ALL YEAR.
We respond to what we see, and what we've seen hasn't been very good.
If I owned the team this coach would be dangling by a thread. If this team had simply equalled it's road performance at home we'd be comfortably in the playoffs instead of scratching for survival. It defies logic that they can swing through the south and play lights out against some of the best teams in the conference but come back home and just plain SUCK in a couple of critical games. That right there is on the coach. Plain and simple. And he hasn't managed to fix it all year.
When Skalde came in the excuse for him being a .500 guy was that he had coached a bad franchise. OK, what's the excuse now? He's had a whole season and this team still has the same problems it had in the first month.
Sorry guys, but even if this team makes the playoffs and takes a run (after all, they'll play alot on the road) I'm still not going to be happy. There are just too many problems not getting corrected.

That wasn't the question you asked. You asked about the negativity. I answered that.
If they win a cup, or even get past the first round of the playoffs this year it will be on luck. After the pitiful performance at home this weekend (with the playoffs on the line) this team deserves to be playing golf next week.
As noted, Skalde came in with a load of excuses (legitimate ones) for why the team started poorly. But he's had an entire season to figure things out and correct them and HAS NOT done it. It's inexcusable for a team to pull a complete no-show like they did at home this weekend with the playoffs on the line. The coach has to figure it out and fix it. After all, that is basically his JOB.
It's one thing to lose. It's another thing all together to stink the place up so bad, on the next-to-last weekend of the season, that you have season ticket holders leaving at the end of the 2nd period. That really is horrible. It's nice that they bounced back Sunday, but if they hadn't been so terrible Friday and Saturday they wouldn't have needed to.
The season is basically over and the cards are on the table. This team has the talent and experience to win on any given night, but they often simply don't show up. That right there is the coach.
At this point I'd rather start over from scratch than give Skalde another chance, regardless of how far he goes into the playoffs this year. I think we've seen what he can do, and I'm not a fan.

The Cyclones are definitely in trouble.... Jarrod Skalde has had all season and the perfect opportunity to dust off the images of his past teams in Bloomington, and he has managed only to scrape barely a winning season this year, when three years ago they won the Cup with 55 wins, and won 40 the next two years after! The job of a an ECHL coach is to develop players for the AHL, and other than Chuck's leftovers from last year, I have seen no player other than Barret Eghotz who after 70 Cyclones games can be told by any GM on the planet that they are ready for the next step. If, say, Jarrod's golden boy Chet Pickard took to an AHL rink NOW hed have ten goals punched in within five minutes!
With Chuck as the coach of our AHL affiliate, what he needs down here is someone just like him here in town who has an excellent track record for developing players for the next level so he can start winning Calder Cups up there in Rochester.... not some guy who spent his first years in the independent leagues (IHL was considered independent) with players who are skating for pizzas.
In conclusion, Jarrod, its just not working out and ya need to go! |

Last time i checked Jarrod's golden boy was affiliated and Jarrod had no control over him other than if he had a better option to play that better option... that's why brain foster has been playing forever now.
I know you people will never be satisfied with a loosing season after being spoiled by 2 championships in 4 years with Chuck. But to be so down on this guy after one season is just kinda ridiculous. Even if we didn't make the playoffs I would give him a SUMMER to recruit people HE wants instead of taking the ECHL leftovers.
but once again i cheer for my team if they are loosing or winning i show up at ever home game and take my road-trips to wheeling, Toledo and kzoo and cheer them there too.
that's all I have. How about some optimism. Maybe do the complaining when the season is over and you either have or dint have a cup to drink out of.

I'm not sure where the golden boy thing comes from. That's a pretty uninformed statement. Skalde has pretty clearly played someone else when the option was available and Chet was playing poorly. Chet has played doorman pretty much full time since Foster got here.

I completely agree. I'm just happy if we make the playoffs this year after a championship season. I told myself the same thing during 08-09 season. |

I think we can give Skalde the benefit of the doubt for one season. He came in late and didn't have the opportunity to get the personnel he necessarily wanted for the year, since a lot of the players were already under contract. If we make the playoffs great, but if we don't as long as they come out strong next year, there are no problems.
My issue was more with that one game on Saturday, and that I will throw on the coach. You might not have the skill or speed, and everyone has an off night, but when the entire team takes the night off, and in particular, does it on a night that can help lock up a playoff spot in the stretch, says that the coach couldn't get his team motivated to play, and that is the coach's job. |

Lets not turn into Bengals fans. People need to realize that EVERY EVERY minor league sports team is not expected to do good every year because of constant changes that is both expected and hopeful because people want to move up. Am I upset by the teams .500 performance yes but am I surprised, not really because its the minors, we have been grateful for the great years but sometimes being a minor league team catches up to you and you have a bump in the road. I will say lets see who we have next year and then by the Christmas Break questions will be asked and better be answered if something is wrong.
If Chet is back with Nashville and they resign with us next year he will be back down here most likely Smith has had a heck of a year in Milwaukee. Chet has a lot of thinking to do. We probably will not see Calla, Hudson, Cheverie, Fast, Foster, or Comrie next year because Rochester and Florida are splitting. We may stay with whoever has Chuck I do not know that is the world of the minors. Every year brings a new not the same. |

As most know, I'm not a Skalde fan at all, but I don't think he gets all the blame for the player's lack of motivation. At this level, these players SHOULD know what's at stake and they are professional and should be able to motivate themselves...unless they've tuned out the coach...but, if they've tuned him out, then you'd expect to to lousy effort on the road as well.
Too many distractions at home? if they make the playoffs, maybe for home games coach needs to put them up at hotel, limit contact with wives/kids/GFs and treat it like a road game... |

I can't speak for everyone, but I'd guess most who complain understand that, and have no problem with that PROVIDED they see the team putting forth some effort. My major complaint this season, aside from personnel move, is the lack of effort/intensity. To me, that's unexcusable. |

| I agree with the Fanger's man. Almost anything else can be excused from time to time, but the lack of effort and intensity really bothers me. |
