ONTARIO, Calif.– The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, announced today that veteran defenseman Chad Starling has signed on for a fourth season with the club.
Starling, 30, has been with the Reign since its inaugural season and has 20 points (3g-17a) and 199 penalty minutes in 158 games with Ontario. An injury limited the blue liner to 14 appearances last season.
The Delisle, Saskatchewan native is entering his eleventh professional season and was recently named to the ECHL All-Decade Team. Starling led the Cincinnati Cyclones to the Kelley Cup championship in 2008 and his +48 rating that season earned him Plus Performer of the Year honors.
I know a lot here were not big fans of Chad but I for one was! I think we could use a D-Man that actually plays defense!

At times he got a bad rap for his late game penalties. I will admit saying that myself at times but to his credit, Coach Weber always counted on him. During the last 10 minutes of a close game, he was out there 7 minutes or more. Hard to also hide when you are as tall as him, so refs always saw him. Between him and Barrett, you could always count on them giving you 100% effort. Maybe not a player long enough to deserve a jersey retired but good enough to be considerd one of our top defensemen of all time. |

| He was very dependable in his own zone. Chad knew how to play position. He was always in the right place to make the play that needed to be made. I wish he would have stuck around here. |
