Josef Vasicek, who played in three playoff games for the IHL Cyclones in 2000-01, was among the players killed in a plane crash this morning in Russia carrying a KHL team.

Former Cincinnati Mighty Ducks defenseman Ruslan Salei was also on the plane.

There are conflicting reports on Salei. It was initially reported that he was on the plane, the list just released by sovsport.ru does not list him among the dead. (www.bit.ly/p1u6LQ)

There are reports that he traveled to Minsk on his own before the team.

Ruslan Salei is confirmed dead. He was the first Cincinnati Mighty Ducks player called up to the NHL, October 22, 1997 by Anaheim.

This all very sad. Our prayers go out to the families of Vasicek and Salei, as well as the families of all the players and coaches that were lost.
