On May 15, 1973, the Cincinnati Swords won the American Hockey League Calder Cup Trophy with a 5-1 victory over the Nova Scotia Voyageurs in Buffalo’s Memorial Auditorium.

The Swords, who were deprived of playing at Cincinnati Gardens because of another commitment in the arena, won the best-of-seven series, 4-1.

A then AHL record crowd of 15,019 watched the Swords win the championship in only their second year in the league.

On May 15, 1937, Madeleine Albright, America's first female secretary of state, is born Maria Jana Korbelova in Prague, Czechoslovakia. But nobody cares about this either.

Nobody caring must be the reason 50,000-watt WLW mentioned it several times in their sports updates on Wednesday after I sent them the note. There were more mentions and discussion about something that happened 40 years ago than the Cyclones playoff games.
