Little David Desharnais picked up 2 assists vs. NJ and future HOF goaltender Martin Brodeur this evening.

In his past 7 games, Desharnais has 8 points (2 goals 6 assists), is 1/1 in SO attempts and is a +6. Montreal is 6-0-1 in these games.

His critics are now picking out every exotic statistic that they can use/fabricate to demean him now. It's pretty funny to watch.

Why he has returned to form after his dreadful start ( 1 assist in 20 games) is a matter of speculation, but that he has returned to playing like a man with a $3.5 million/year deal is not.

Carry on, mighty midget!!!!!!!

His two points gave Desharnais eight in his past seven games after getting one assist in his first 19 games this season.

"Everyone has always doubted me, so that wasn't the problem. It's when you start doubting yourself that it becomes a problem," Desharnais said "It's about having fun on the ice and playing hockey, not being afraid to make mistakes. When you're afraid of making mistakes you're not on the puck as much, you're not in the play; you sit back a lot instead of being more aggressive."

Brodeur has had a Hall of Fame career but he's not that caliber of goalie anymore. Still very good but no longer one of the best goalies in the NHL, or even the best on his team.

Great to see Desharnais has eight points in his last seven games, but it's an 82-game season. Over the first 27 games he's played he has not provided a good return on the Canadiens investment.

While he has played better of late, if the Canadiens could do that one over again (signing him to a 4-year deal) they would.

Incidentally, Desharnais play began to pick up after he settled in on the third line, a role he's best suited for in the NHL. As a third-line center and being someone that can play on the first power play unit and win some faceoffs, he's a useful guy. But as a first or second line center, he's overmatched. The longer he played in the NHL, the more that became evident.

I watched the game last night, and he made a sweet pass to Bourque on one of the assists.

David Desharnais scored the tying goal in the final minute of regulation and the winner in the shootout to give the Montreal Canadiens a 4-3 victory against the New Jersey Devils in a wild game at Prudential Center on Wednesday that featured five goals in the third period, including three in the final four minutes.

Find it interesting that the coach put him on the ice with 37 seconds left to score and then was chosen as the second shooter for Montreal in the SO. Dont forget, NHL shootouts are with 3 and not five players ( prefer 5). Guess he is out of the dog house, Sorry Donnie

Tonite's victim of the DD onslaught was the Devil's #1 goalie. LOL.

approx 2:40 on clip for game tying goal and 3:50 for SO game winner.

Saw this on Yahoo tonight:

Desharnais got off to a horrible start but now is putting some decent action together
as of late. Granted I wouldn't give him All-Star status but at least now he is earning
most of his contract.

20 points in his last 23 games after a one assist in 19 game start.

The people who hate him on message boards are going out of their minds with DDs resurgence

Former Cincinnati Mighty Ducks left wing Chris Kunitz, who one former member of this forum said was only a marginal NHL player, was named to Team Canada for the Olympics. David Desharnais, who they raved about, was given zero consideration for the 25-man roster.

"And the beat goes on"
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/desharnais-scores-2-canadiens-beat-015843654--nhl.html
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The Montreal Canadiens needed a little time to get up to speed in their final game before the Olympic break. When they did, they left behind the Carolina Hurricanes.
David Desharnais scored twice and the Canadiens rallied for a 4-1 victory Saturday night.

Previous game:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/vancouver-canucks-montreal-canadiens-2014020610/
David Desharnais :Goals=0...Assists=2...Points=2

Feb 6th game 2nd star of the game
Feb 8th game 1st star of the game

The Olympic break is probably the rest he needs for the season. My guess is the Montreal
mayor is not ready to send him to the AHL now !!!

31 points in 37 games since his horrible slump ended.

He's tied for 3rd on the Canadiens in forward scoring. Not too many players could have recovered that well from such a dreadful start.

Check this goal out:
