Cyclones are now the highest seed remaining in the East. Wonder if there has ever been a hockey or basketball playoff where there have been 4 first round series and the lower seeded team won all four series. Seeds 5,6,7,8 remain and not one series went 7 games. Given our home/away record this year not sure this is good or bad for us. Talk about parity. See you all Friday

I'm hoping the 'Clones can at least earn a home ice split this weekend.

Yeah I said that...

Another unusual seeding is in the Western Conference where because the ECHL does not reseed after each round anymore, the #1 seed plays the #4 seed while the #6 seed plays the #7 seed rather than a 1-7 and 4-6 series.

This looks like a different Cyclones team, than has played here most of the season. The offense seems to be clicking right when it needs to be. It would be nice to see them play a little more physically though. Giving the other guys time and space to set up can only lead to bad things.

Agreed. This is a physical FT Wayne team that has had there way with us all season--especially at home where we have lost all four games in regulation. Will be interesting to see if Simon makes any changes in the line up.

Fort Wayne has ALWAYS been tough, even back in the old IHL days. Two players I hated the most back in the day was Clevelands Jock Collander and Fort Wayne's Robin Bawa.

What changes would you propose he makes? I think the only guy who hasn't played is Matt Tinordi? If it ain't broke.... SMH

I didn't propose any changes--just said it would be interesting if he did given how poorly we have played against them and how they have handled us physically. Some teams just don't match up well with others. Reading plays very much like we do and we see what happened to them in the playoffs.

I am far from the having the expertise to propose he make changes. But the fact remains they have beaten us up and we are the least penalized team in the league. Two changes he MIGHT be considering are the style and the personnel. As they forecheck much more than Orlando did, he might have a more deliberate offensive scheme in mind especially coming out of our end. Also, with the loss of David McDonald he had lost one of his tougher players and I THINK there is a rule about fighting while wearing the type of face mask Dalhuisen is wearing who is another player willing to mix it up if he is allowed to. Given that loss of MacDonald and possibly Dalhuisen, Tinordi might be in the lineup just for that role. Blazek is also a much bigger defenseman than O'Keefe and O'Keefe scares me a bit with his lack of size and his tendency to get caught up ice.I have posted before how he was the only Cyclone defenseman with a minus rating while a Cyclone. Simon might be considering going back to Blazek. As I said, it will be interesting

Does anyone know Brian Nugent's status. They put him on the playoff roster so they must think he is capable of coming back at some point. Hope it is tonight. Not only a scorer but a strong defensive forward.

For all I know Simon will make no changes and that is up to him

O'Keefe stays out. Keep Blazek in. I like the size.

Anyone else noticing how poor Ft. Wayne has been in the defensive end when being forchecked. I would write it off as a bad night, but both games they have seemed to struggle, especially Southorn. Anyone wanting to score a goal, with a 'Clones sweater on, should be smiling when that d-unit of Southorn and Danis-Pepin are in!

Agree on Blazek. Liked the physical play of Tinordi also as his was the first scrub of the game. Sort of set the tone and Clones upped their physical play and forechecking and took that weapon away from Fort Wayne

2006 West bracket of the Stanley Cup is the only occurrence that I remember it happening. San Jose, Anaheim, Colorado and Edmonton all took out the top four seeds..... oddly enough, the TOP four seeds in the East all advanced out of the first round that year...

I will also add that it it is the only time the NHL has seen that in the era that they saw 1-8 seeding.... now it is based 1-3 and 2 wild cards and divisional based.... in that entire time a 5 and an 8 won the cup, and a six, three 7's and another 8 were in the finals...
