The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward Chris Kunitz today in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks, along with prospect Eric Tangradi, in exchange for defenseman Ryan Whitney.

"He's a top six-forward; wherever the coach wants to play him, he'll play him," Penguins GM Ray Shero told ESPN.com. "Kunitz is going to be a good player for us. I love the way he plays. He's got character, leadership; he'll play a little bigger role here than I think he did recently [in Anaheim].

"I've watched him forever and [Penguins coach] Dan Bylsma coached him [in the AHL] and played with him," Shero added. "He's a guy that can play with good players. He's got the speed, the hockey sense, the hands. We really like him."

Seems I remember Donnie Hockey also referring to Kunitz as a top six forward, much to the disagreement of hrc666, who liked to compare Kunitz to David Desharnais. I guess that's why Donnie was asked by NHL teams to scout the ECHL while hrc666 has been asked to pay $10 per game to watch it.

I never said that Kunitz wasn't a top 6 (on a team-not best 6 in the league) forward.

Donny Quackie said that Desharnais would be invisible in the AHL. Some disappearing act. He's third in rookie scoring. I said he would
be an effective player at the AHL level. Search the posts on Hackers Grovel for verification if you wish.

Perhaps the NHL people are using the wrong bird dogs. If they're using that ne'er was clown as one they sure are. FYI, I've suspected that Van Guilder would be called up for the past month or so.

Bonnie Quackie never played the game. Except for beer league. His fundamental understanding of it is purely academic. His"insight"
into the game is strictly of a parroting nature. He is not a scout nor has he ever been one. Dream on.

"The only way David Desharnais will see an NHL game is if he buys a ticket".

"David Desharnais will be invisible during 5 on 5 hockey. IN THE AHL"

Stanley Cup winning Head Coach Ken Hitchcock never played the game, nor did Stanley Cup winning GM Jay Feaster, as well as many other scouts, coaches, and GMs. But I'm sure an ECHL fan in Cincinnati knows a lot more about what qualifications are required to judge hockey talent than people who actually work (or worked) in the game.

Keep buying those ECHL tickets. Put them all together, frame them, and hang them on your wall to remind yourself and anyone who visits you of the extent of your hockey expertise.
